sure, it definitely was a security, it might still be, but who cares?

real bitcoin maximalists don't care because most of them bought into ethereum pre-2016 with play money, and got even wealthier
altcoiners can't care because if ethereum goes down every other ethereum competitor will have long since been taken to the cleaners due to them all being even more obvious securities

so that leaves late-adopter bitcoin maxis, the guys that are just tribal altcoiners at heart, yet picked bitcoin as their coin of choice, who nobody cares about,
or the cypherpunks that want to see crypto revert back to being p2p money and nothing else, who have been left behind by the wave of financialization in crypto that made everyone rich
