SQL is Turing complete, so it’s as real as any other language. It’s just highly specialized.

It’s not a good start to get into coding. The concepts you would learn are not applicable to any other, more general purpose language. It’s more appropriate for like a sysadmin type role rather than software engineer.

Python is also mostly used for sysadmin, maybe dev ops type roles. Also academia. Rarely used for real software development.

I would learn Kotlin or Swift. The actual language itself almost doesn’t matter. It’s more about learning good design patterns, etc. which any modern language will be good for.
