Can't speak about german law but in NL you basically have a high hourly wage and invoice. Say 85+ eur per hour. Taxes and then the rest is yours. No paid holidays etc but the hourly wage easily compensates that. You can pull 100k with 36h week and still take 8 weeks off. But yeah you need experience. Some fields contracting is difficult, best and easiest is software engineering for big enterprises like java or .net, with covid most can be done remote or 1 day in office.
