Stocks, bonds, PMs, etc are some of those (not saying any of those are good or don't have risk, people are simply desperate).

Check US savings rate, it's close to 5% down from 18% since 2021. People are spending cash like crazy. Part of this is sude to increased cost of living of course, but it's not enough to account for such drop.
