The coin is not going to be an investment currency like bitcoin. while it may rise I suspect it will always be a fraction of a penny in value unless major investment is made to make inroads to the retail market.
It needs to be used as a currency to be seen and accepted as one. it is a catch 22 (great book ) where we may need investors to introduce the brand of dogecoin to the masses. While the community has done pretty good in doing things that gets the coin noticed, Sadly there is going to have to be a break from the silly internet meme for joe sixpack to be interested in it.
But that all depends on if .. and a big IF , the community really wants dogecoin to be a worldwide currency or not. Everything in my gut seems to say that we have this little awesome thing going on, But nobody outside of reddit really "gets" it .
Dont get me wrong. when you talk about BTC and that each coin is worth hundreds of (fiat) dollars, people notice and they do long shows about you . I know everyone wants 1 doge to equal 1 doge. . But unless they are miners, people on the outside of the walls of the reddit servers buy dogecoins with fiat . so it has a fiat value linked to it.
But lets face facts, doge becoming a recognized world wide currency is a serious business , it changes lives. there are people now that are already putting in a hard days manual labor in trade for them, A doughnut guy here , a pizza guy there , it means actual human labor and effort is being traded for our coin. that is a mind scrambler considering we are only now getting into our third month.

You need a bond market. This generally means you need some sort of project that will give a return to pay interest on the bonds. Think of what the Jimmy Stewart's character in It's A Wonderful Life was doing: starting up a savings bank to build houses for the people saving. Their money could gain interest because the process of building houses created value.

Bonds are important at this stage because they don't get bought back immediately, preventing a bank run. Beyond longer term ventures, is it possible to use Doge as a pay day loan thing though? Hopefully quick return, shorter term bonds.
