Bars, because low premiums. If you live in a cuntry where you have sovereign coins, coins might be worth exploring because of weird CGT rules.

Hello /pmg/
I'm considering getting a set of silver dining utensils for myself, does anyone have experience with that? How much is the premium on top of the silver price itself? Is it a good investment overall?

You've been brainwashed by the elites who want to get their hands on your cash and you better realize it before it's too late.

In the end you'll end up with kilos and kilos of tarnished metal that will be rusty and corroded long before it appreciates enough for you to recoup the premiums you've paid. Asteroid mining and the recent discovery of the a huge gold deposit in Uganda are already taking a toll on the price of gold and silver. Sell NOW!!!!

Fuck, forgot about that. It reacts with acids only though, so it's fine as long as that's avoided. But I take it the premium on silver utensils is too high to be worth it.

Yes, premiums on silver utensils are too high if you buy new. You could start with 10 ounce bars for silver if you are in the US. Getting smaller that, I think will have higher premiums.

So the royal mint has this retarded 1kilo queen's beast completer coin and they fucked up and marked it as 500 pounds. This would mean that the face value == spot price. Some dude phoned up the bank of england, asked if they would accept the coin for 500 quid - NO. He called up the royal mint, asked if they would accept it? NO. Phoned his local bank, of course they said NO.

The face value is just a meme after all, there's even these coins: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125428429575 that are worth less than 20 pounds because they're not redeemable anywhere.

As a coin-stacker, this is a pretty big revolution. This might be why people stick to ASE's because I know the face-value is real on those, although it's shit. I doubt that even Britannia's are redeemable for 1 pound.

>I'm considering getting a set of silver dining utensils for myself, does anyone have experience with that? How much is the premium on top of the silver price itself? Is it a good investment overall

Yeah, I've opportunistically acquired a few table service sets of sterling silverware in my scrapping adventures that were nice enough to keep. Premiums are unconscionability high if you buy new at retail but far better deals can be found buying secondhand from individuals. It sounds like you just want a personal "place setting" of 4-7 different pieces instead of a chest full of settings, it is pretty easy to find people selling place settings which is easier than piecing one together from single pieces and if you buy via auction format then most of the time you have a good chance at paying below melt value.

The main thing you need to do is figure out what pattern you like, you can browse the most popular silverware patterns at replacements.com and see what jives then go on a more targeted hunt. Most patterns aren't particularly desirable so they won't be a good "investment" beyond silver content, however certain patterns are very fashionable and desirable and tend to sell for a whole lot. Many designs by Tiffany, and almost all by Georg Jensen for example hold value very well, at least during normal times. I don't know how much disposable capital a poorfag would want to dump into silverware, but personally recommend finding a pattern you like that isn't overhyped then lurking until a good below-spot deal shows up. If SHTF the demand for fancy high premium stuff may dry up and it could wind up getting liquidated and scrapped along with the less desirable patterns, so I think it's best to view it as just a utilitarian form of bullion and to avoid paying too much regardless of pattern or manufacturer.

They are still so little-known that their popularity can only increase as more people learn about them. This doesn't mean they're becoming more liquid. The concept is great, but as far as stacking goes, their markup is very high. If it truly becomes popular enough to be a norm, other companies will join in and the prices for them will go down. I've heard tell that Canada and England are already using notes made of a synthetic polymer. They're not sputtered with gold though, and printing with ink and gold are two different technologies.

Bro. No one is buying ASEs because $1 is stamped on it. People buy them because they are the most recognizable and liquid coin especially in the US. You can get well over spot for an Eagle EASILY if you ever need to sell. Counterfeits are easy detected by the naked eye. No weighing, measuring, pinging, acid tests, magnets needed. No decent fake has been made that can’t be identified with the eye. They are a great investment especially with the recent rise in premiums. A monster box that was purchased 2 years ago is now worth thousands more than the equivalent of 500 oz of cheap generic. When silver picks up steam again, These premiums will skyrocket again. Anyone with substantial wealth will be buying eagle monster boxes when the collapse of the dollar become more obvious. They won’t be buying silvertowne buffalos. The strain of the demand and lack of supply from the US mint will be incredible. We already seen supply issues from the Mint during Covid. Eagle premiums will be so massive that it will drag up the premiums of maples (already happened with the first rise in eagle premiums during Covid), and other coins and even generic rounds.

FFS at least make the effort to understand what the face value of a coin actually does in a legal sense. We've had this discussion here not to long ago that its purpose is to prevent you from being sued if you presented a legal tender coin for another commodity like fuel. All that will happen is that the judge will take the legal tender coin, convert it into fiat and then pay the person who's owned that money.

It's the opposite of woke western content, most anime have literally zero blacks in them like LotR. It's more traditional, i.e. women in anime cook/clean and care about their looks while the men work. Some of the greatest stories have been told through the medium of anime, examples I love being Evangelion, Trigun, Steins Gate, Attack on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist, and Berserk. I stopped watching jewish western media aside from the occasional movie over a decade ago and never looked back. I don't own cable or Netflix, I only pirate everything off Nyaa.

I understand. After the rise in premium I switched to maples. Then the maple premium started to rise (dragged up by eagles because lots of people switched to maples). Then I switched to Roos and some Brits and krugs. Anything but cheap generic rounds. Saving $0.50 by buying silvertowne shit makes no sense to me. If I want to save money on premiums, I’ll buy 10oz and kilo bars. I’m glad I bought eagles when I did. But honesty, I’ll probably be kicking myself for not buying more now.

At spot of 19.89, 1 kg Ag is 527 Pounds.
Ag spot would have to get to 18.86 to make its face value > spot.
Even if they took it in for that, I'd have to be nuts to use it that way.
I get that it was a demonstration of fiat fakery though.

It depends on the indidual perception of wasting time. Lurking this shithole, anime, vidya, drugs, chasing roasties, hoarding boomer rocks, sports etc. can all be perceived as a waste of time. If someone enjoys something it's not a waste of time for them personally.
I have phases when i do 'useful' stuff (as per my definition of useful) and phases when i 'waste time' with stuff i enjoy that seemingly have no developmental benefit.
So if you can't get into anime because you feel it's a waste of time that's just your personal taste, nothing wrong with that.

What's the point of Face Value if you get arrested for using it?
The mints originally put Face Values on these things so you could get at least some value back if the price of Silver or Gold crashed to some stupidly low level.

Because the police are fucking stupid and in most cases no one pays with a face value coin due to the intrinsic value of the metal itself. The system has only failed if the courts decide that the face value isn't legal tender when it legally is. I can't believe I'm even explaining this.

Three sided shapes are geometrically and architecturally strong, and three sides to, say, an institution, population, vote, etc, prevents a 50-50 split. When I think of gold, silver and copper, I naturally associate them with the wealthy, the middle class, and the poor.

Here are 11 silver dollars I had my dad pick up for around melt ($14.50 each) from his LCS. Because of the rust from the ammo can they were tossed in the scrap box. Evidently a hoard of 485 silver dollars was dug up and sold to the shop, buried by the parents of the boomer who sold them. Another similar hoard was buried by those parents at a vacation property in Colorado but not recovered yet, wish I knew the location as I'd be there digging now.

>normie friendly introduction to bullion
I don't think so. Pretty much everyone knows gold and silver are valuable, but there aren't many that understand that gold jewelry is a form of bullion with a very high premium (due understandably to the labor involved). They also have no idea what the relationships are between weight, market value, and price and price fluctuation are. Goldbacks to the normie are a quaint novelty. Even if they understand that some stores accept them in lieu of cash, they can't be bothered to figure out if they're getting a good deal or not. And it DOES take work - especially when a One gb costs $4.52, but a Five bg costs $17.61, not $22.60, and at what rate the does the merchant accept them? It's meme cash for stubborn Libertarians and edgy 'conscientious objectors.'
Other than that, they're pretty and they're a lost-cost way to make a proper gold backdrop for decoration, photography, whatever.

Nah the rust had them relegated to the refinery pile as it was, and CLR doesn't really harm actual tarnish as you can see on some of the toned peace dollars. They aren't numismatics like anon's key date 1889 CC, basically just fancy junk silver. Good luck if you ever get into LCSs again, be sure to ask about their scrap bins while there.

Nice gaffs, those could be quite useful during SHTF. I bought an old pair of lineman's gaffs years ago, the spikes or spurs or whatever you call them are full and sharp but not as long as tree gaffs so probably insufficient for lots of trees.

kek, yeah those are silver. Everything from 1964 and earlier from a dime to dollar are 90% pure silver. You also have some Kennedy halves that look like 1965-1970 40% silver. You might have some 1942-1945 nickels which are 35% silver if they have a big P, D, or S over Monticello on the reverse..
