There weren't enough shares created via the split to close all short positions in existence, it would make no sense for the DTCC to give those to the shorts since it wouldn't even save them and would just doom the DTCC. Shut the fuck up curryjogger, the company issued shares in the form of a dividend. They were the ones that took a look at the book and saw how many shares they'd need to create, and once the dividend-issued shares were given to CS holders the rest were given to the DTCC. The DTCC then lied and told all the brokers to handle it as a split, the smart and/or big brokers said "fuck that" and demanded they be issued the shares to cover their clients positions, everyone else is fucked, and everyone that doesn't DRS is depending on their brokers not being shitbags or having enough money to settle their CFD's. A stock split issued as a dividend is not the fucking same as a regular stock split and never will be. Eat my shitty anus if you disagree, sneed, cope, dilate and rope.
