So he technically won the case because the comments made to him were defamatory - but he was denied recovery of any damages because he lied and because the judge seems to view him as a charlatan and a vexatious litigant; he recovers the minimum sum possible of £1 simply because some judgment needed entering. Haven't seen an order/award on costs yet though. If McCormack's legal team are competent theyd have made a Part 36 offer to settle valued at more than £1 so any costs incurred by Wright beyond that point will be paid by Wright because he failed to beat that offer.

This is close to how I read the outcome of this case.

We don't know though if maybe the lawyer came up with the whole 'disinvited from conferences' thing and craig went along with it.

Also judges are assholes. I know a litigant in a case where the appellate judge wrote in the decision that he thought my friend was lying. I knew all the facts of the case first hand, and I know he was telling the truth, 100%. My friend, the litigant, was starting to get a reputation due to filing two lawsuits within 3 years. The problem was he was constantly talking about filing lawsuits in a smallish community. People don't like that.

Judges tend to have a lot of upper middle class and rich friends. These are the type of people that are very afraid of lawsuits, so if you get a reputation as a vexatious litigant, then they will just pile on, and call you a liar even if your cases have merit. I think that may be the case here.

The final take-away for me is:

1) The judge doesn't like Craig Wright
2) In spite of the above the judge still ruled that Craig is Satoshi
3) The judge still ruled that Craig was defamed.

So it's the same as per Kleiman vs Wright. There's lots of tangental info, hints, evidence, etc, but not an actual determination of the court.
