The gold silver ratio is based on scarcity, it is much more scarce than 55:1, it's only being mined at somewhere around 8-15:1, and only exists in the earths crust at 25-1. It will be depleted in mineable forms within our lifetime.
As for the VAT, stop living in yurop. I don't blame you for wanting to buy gold to avoid the tax, I wouldn't buy silver if I knew that 20% of the tax was going towards importing more refugees to rape my children.

thats so sad. ill see it it is magnetic
and if its steel lined with tin then its still pewter?

No, pewter is a tin alloy used to make solid decorative and utilitarian tableware. Most steel cans nowadays are coated with plastic not lined with tin, though you might find some imported corned beef or seafood cans that are tinned and soldered the old fashioned way. Not worth recovering the tin though, just find a cheap pewter bowl or tankard somewhere to melt down.

Ideally, I'll be able to directly exchange my silver and gold for land in the future.
Slightly less ideally, I'll sell my silver and gold to buy land.
Amount depends on what you want to do with it.
Do you want a garden and some chickens? 1/4 acre.
Do you want a cow and pigs and orchard? A couple acres.
Do you want enough forested land to sustainably supply your wood stove and pasture to raise enough sheep to clothe yourself and beef cows and horses/donkeys? You're probably looking at 40+ acres.

10g 14k gold ring

12 diamonds that are 0.2 - 0.23ct each si2 h color diamonds. bought by themselves wholesale you'd be paying 300-400 CAD per diamond. I paid 1200 + 12% tax + $25CAD shipping which i feel is a great price. Surprisingly it was on ebay for about 2 months before i bought it.

in canada Canada-Post is the only trustworthy courier and all the other companies leave packages in dangerous locations. I buy $5000 shipments that i know are going through canada post but anything else i try to buy in person. I generally go maximum $1000 CAD for anything non Canada-Post but even 700 dollar packages stress me out knowing that companies like raven-force (final mile delivery for international ebay orders in Canada) will leave expensive packages outside apartment buildings.

There's a gold and diamond bracelet i want on ebay and got a seller offer for spot + 20% and even though its only $400 CAD all in i feel like its almost too much hassle knowing that ravenforce will do something retarded with the package if i dont pay a pensioner in my building to sit outside and watch for the package.

Lost-100oz-bar-anon here.

Some of you may remember my story of losing a 100 oz bar in my attic and looking for it for 3 days, all while sweating my balls off and moving around two layers of rolled insulation in an effort to figure out where I hid it. I even paid to rent a metal detector to try and find it. Well, I had pretty much resigned to having to wait until the Fall when it cooled down to go through systematically and replace all my insulation in order to find this little fucker because I absolutely could not find it up there.

Today I was working on my hot water heater, and when I went to clean the filter, underneath the bucket for draining the water out, there it was. I can't believe I even hid it there in the first place. Mega retard feels, but I'm glad I finally found it. St Anthony only took about 4 months to work his magic.

my thoughts: somewhere hidden where it cannot be easily removed. Safes can be carried away. I like stuff like fake electrical pannels that are welded shut with a piggy bank type coin slot on the top. you'd need to actually cut through the steel electrical panal to get at the coins and no burglar will ever do that. but, if you die accidentally and your family doesnt know about it they will never find it.

theres a show from a little while ago called burn notice. fairly popular, i liked it. the main character plays an ex spy and goes through antics. there are quite a few episodes where shit is hidden in neat places all around and it really gets you thinking where you can hide your shit.

one episode had a harddrive hidden in a fake electrical box on a telephone pole. they explained that most people just passed by it and didnt notice it, and since it was fake, no repair crews ever touched it. they also discussed the balance between ease of access and ability to stay hidden. kinda cool

How do you even invest in physical copper? If you buy copper wire, pipes or plates you have to pay VAT here which is 25% and then of course the factory that made the wire and plates want to profit so they're not selling at spot either.

both, if you know what you are adoing mining companies are a no brainer but just make sure you pick the right ones. the ease of liquidity is much better than physical copper. with physical copper i peresonally wouldnt stack much unless you are stacking something useful for industry, like wire or cable. just solid bars of copper is going to give you a serious liquidity issue becuase who the fuck is going to buy that back. but people are always going to need to update the electrical systems of their home or build new ones and that shit is goign to be at a premium when copper itself is expensive and so is energy like oil required to produce the finished product. thats my opinion anyway, take it for what its worth. im not a big copper investor but im stacking shell casings and spools of residential copper cable. but this shit is pretty far down my investment list, ive only got like $1,000 invested in that. i dont have a lot of room for storage i was just warning against buying those stupid 1 ounce copper coins for $20 that idiots fall for.

you arent buying it for the spot bullion price you are buying it as the finished product thats why the premium is higher. but the value will go up as the bullion goes up and as long as you arent buying something retarded it will still be in demand in the future, just more expensive because of higher supply copper prices and higher energy cost.

so if you buy 1kg copper wire for 30 dollars today, next year taht same 1kg might cost 50 dollars because the higher metal prices forced producers to increase their price and pass the costs on to the consumer. and maybe because of inflation and higher gas and oil prices it cost even more, maybe the same 1kg wire will be $60 next year. so the idea would be to sell it to someone who will use it as wire, since you will keep and store it in perfect brand new condition. instead of selling to some scrap dealer who will melt it down, some electrician or whatever will buy it from you to use in his normal work. thats my opinion anyway and thats what i plan to do. i think theres better investments out there that offer higher return for money so i dont think its something you should go all in on , but just a small percent to diversify your bets never hurts. doubling your money is still doubling your money

also i think it goes without saying but dont buy wire or cable that nobody uses. you wwould want to get the most common in demand thing. buying rj11 telephone wire would be stupid because its obsolete and nobody is installing it anymore, its all being upgraded to coaxial or cat5 or fiber optic. so get something which is very common, like the standard cabling for residential wall electricity. i still think theres better ways to invest your oney though. like the guy pointed out above miners will be a much better buy and more liquid and easier to exit your position and have no overhead or storage issues. i dont think stocking raw base metal really makes a lot of sense, but in small amounts it could be a good hedge in case something weird happens and the prices go parabolic. like we saw earlier this year with nickel.

diamonds are just risky these days because you never really know when the breakthrough with lab diamonds will happen. Right now it's hard to reliably make CVD diamonds that come out the right color - often they are too yellow - an the ones that are good are sold for a slight discount relative to natural diamonds. When the big breakthrough happens and diamonds can be made in labs with the right color 100% of the time the price will collapse and wearing diamonds will be like wearing moissanite is now.

somewhat disagree. The entire world has diamond fever and there is way less supply than there is demand, so natural diamonds are increasing in price. What people say about debeers cornering the market and rigging it high is LONG past. Everyone wants diamonds.

The second part is that the ethical issues are going away as lab diamonds are taking center stage in the global diamond business. The natural supply is too big and unethical to meet demand, and lab diamonds - even produced with unreliable success - are cheaper and more ethical.

diamonds will continue to have status until the big breakthrough when production becomes reliable and cheap - which I think is still a ways off.

honestly, i find it hard to flex with moissanite since everyone knows it's cheap.

>I've decided to have a personalized G-Shock Casiok made in 10k gold.

yeah, your money is printed by jewish swindlers and has no intrinsic value. all fiat in the end goes to zero when people wake up from their sleep and remember that unbacked fiat currency is worthless.

read the top and bottom of the old US bill when the currency was backed by precious metals. The government had metals and your currency could be exchanged at banks for metals, making the paper a representation of real wealth. paper notes are no longer redeemable for gold through state owned banks so now they have no intrinsic value.

think about that: in the past you brought gold or silver to a bank, the bank gave you notes, and you could bring the notes back to the bank after doing trade and get gold and silver back for the notes.

now bank notes are printed out and passed around and have no connection to real wealth and since the money supply is rapidly expanding globally - we have huge global inflation where everything becomes expensive and everyone loses purchasing power.

the funny thing is that not only does nobody know this but the few people that have the sense to buy gold end up buying paper gold scam products like ETFs or even worse - digital gold scam products like bitcoin.

i'm of the opinion that Bitcoin is part of the banker scheme to suppress gold by diverting gold investment dollars into essentially a scam product. The bankers want that because few people buying real gold keeps the price of gold low so that inflation can be hidden, and the fiat currency that the bankers print will continue to have value, and so they - the owners of the money printers - rothschild-rockefeller types - will continue to have power.

If they're being held for metal content and not appearance than a severign coin's appearance shouldn't matter, right?

I have a local jeweler I work with. I bought a casioak metal case set, I'm taking it to the jeweler and having him figure out how to make it. They can either cast all the individual parts or send it off to the local college to have it scanned into CAD. He said everything but the screws should be pretty easy.

Why do people pay so much for coins you easily get out of $1 bins of every coin shop in America?

>> No.50692579

This, many people forget that even BTC transactions require computing power and energy to work. If the BTC nodes start shutting down because there will be lack of energy, lack of chips, lack of you name it, the whole network becomes unstable, and it becomes unstable in the worst way possible, because once enough nodes drop people will break the system and start falsifying transactions, accepting unverified transactions and the whole thing will collapse.
BTC was meant to be decentralized and anonymous, now it's centralized (coin exchanges blacklisting your address)
and deanonymified (KYC, you literally can't freely exchange without being ID'd)

You're a fool and BTC is not anymore what it was designed for, it's only living based on it's old fame

The US is the world's largest food producer and exports almost half of it. Last I heard it was like a billion people are fed for free because of the US.
US exports "nothing" and gets the goods of the whole world, this has been happening for generations. How does this suggest that the US is getting the raw end of the deal?
