LET’S TALK ABOUT SHORT SQUEEZING (bagholder redux, part 1)
A short squeeze is an uncommon market condition wherein a catalyst related to a heavily shorted stock incentivizes short to close on an acute timeframe; in doing so they must buy shares to return to their lenders, creating additional buy pressure and raising the price, which in itself is an incentive for other shorts to close, rinse and repeat at higher and higher prices until eventually all shorts are either closed or insolvent.
This is not what happened in 2021.
Remember; once a short squeeze has begun, rising price action is driven primarily (if not entirely) by shorts closing. Buying to cover was only a paltry fraction of the volume we saw during the sneeze of January ’21, so it makes no sense to classify that event as a short squeeze. This is the exact line of reasoning employed by the SEC in their report on the subject. This also explains why turning off the buy button was sufficient to kill the Sneeze. Price action was driven by retail FOMO, so with that FOMO cut off there was no way for the price action to continue. Remember, the FOMO did not kick off the Sneeze; FOMO WAS the Sneeze.
This is not the situation currently confronting GME bagholders in 2022.

If (when) the short parties are forced to close, though, the sheer number of naked shorts existent means that it will be impossible for shorts to buy all the shares necessary to return them to their lenders. Nonetheless a legal obligation exists to try, and so they will bid, and bid, and bid, until the shares have been sold and rebought enough times to make up for the existence of all these fraudulent shares. This is a short squeeze as defined, and what bagholders refer to as "MOASS."
So what can be done to bring this about?

GME baggies do not believe that the act of purchasing shares will directly cause share price to increase and thereby trigger MOASS. In fact, variations of “the price is wrong” are common. GME baggies believe that purchasing and refusing to sell shares does two things.
1. It increases the bagholder’s position as an individual, increasing the wealth they stand to accrue come MOASS.
2. It decreases the number of shares available for purchase by shorts on the open market, making it increasingly difficult for short parties to meet their purchasing obligations on schedule.
The first effect is purely selfish in nature, and does nothing to advance MOASS. The second is critical. The fact of the matter is that short positions come with a financial obligation to buy at a later date, and that short squeezes occur when multiple shorts must compete with each other to satisfy those individual obligations. The harder that becomes, the more likely a squeeze is to occur. All other factors- including, or maybe even especially share price- are ultimately irrelevant.

We've been trying to do the maths on it and we come out with a figure of (post split) 12B shares short. Which would mean that they have been shorting a float a year (pre split) since 2007. Which the vast majority was in the last 2 years, it still would equate to about 50 floats that are sold short. Weather or not retail owns those is anyone's guess due to the dark pools and swaps holding onto the largest positions probably. We know that the Brazilians were holding about 10m shares in puts pre split (40m post) . The guy on youtube who is doing a survey estimated about 38% of the float has been DRS'd which would equate to about 100m~ shares in brokers, which if you take the trimmed vote data of 2022 then you come to the same number of non-DRS holders (approx 94m~).

So using their public data we see they are at minimum 50m shares in the hole, post split at bare minimum. Trying to figure out the truth has been nigh on impossible as I have been trying for about 2 weeks now to find sources that have slipped up or leaked.
