You will not get to take advantage of IV crush with Term Risk. In order to avoid term risk, do the diagonal spread but ALSO do a vertical tail put spread.

Never ever do calendar diagonals in vol rich settings. Do Term Risk Premium Harvesting (TRP). It is one the best ways to harvest VRP.
Your r multiple Is quite skewed, you can structure trades that have asymmetric r and be delta and basically vega neutral. Trading relative vol(term volatility skew) while harvesting VRP as well.

When you see your "max loss" on your trading account when youre selling a calendar spread or buying a calendar spread, I would take any payoff calculations from your brokerage with a pinch of salt because they involve multiple expiries .

These static payoffs cant account for various vol scenario that the far expiry. Usually such structures suffer in uptrend with vol dropping.. just be aware .. however if u have a great vol edge you have more cushion to play with
