I had never been involved with any prior criminal activity, i literally am a mid level cog in the institutional machine. Not a grunt but not an overlord. Unfortunately when someone higher up decides to ruin your life, there is nothing you can do. Nothing.

The guards were nice to me, they enjoyed having someone to discuss bureaucratic practice, history and Solzhenitsyn with.

Prison is a horrific place and i will kill myself before i ever go back.

I really need to finish my book. Its everything. They transport you in a van without a seatbelt where if it stops suddenly, you will break your nose. You are locked into a tiny cage and have to piss into a bag. Then you arrive and they strip search you. Then they decide who to pair you with. They ask if you are a racist or homophobic, so they know who to place you with if they want peace or conflict.

The noise is awful. Violence is a form of communication. The guards are bent. 23 hour lockdown. The bed gives you back pain, the food is poison. The noise is overwhelming and 24 hours. Violence. You stop being a human and start being an animal. Anxiety. The guards can destroy you if they so choose. Violence. Because im educated i could help the other inmates read their charge sheets and advise them on what to say when asking for parole. I am not a legal expert but basic communication goes a long way. I came close to being beaten up twice.
