>Why the fuck do they keep buying shit in an inflated economy
assets (non-capital assets only this time, cause of the bubble deflating a bit) are getting more expensive every day because of inflation. The strat is to buy as much as you conceivably need at the current prices, before they become even more expensive tomorrow. This causes a death spiral that fuels inflation even more. Brazil had to confuse consumers by changing the name and denomination of their currency a few times to stop such phenomena.

Most millennial and Gen x households clear 140-150k, the husband and the wife both have 70k+ incomes and are sitting on a pretty decent size stack of cash and a decent size 401k. I know several people that got fairly sizable 30% raises last year kind of out of the blue or by job hopping, many going from ~60k to ~80k, all of them in made up “analyst” or “specialist” type business wage office positions.

The rate of savings of these people has absolutely plummeted due to inflation (which is astronomically higher than 9% lmfao) but their budget still allows them to make $2,000 monthly mortgage and $1,000 monthly car payments along with childcare services and food and gas and so on. They are getting close to their limit (where spending exceeds income) but they are not there yet. The only way this ends, in my opinion, is when people start losing their jobs. These households are entirely dependent on two office wagie incomes, they’ve stretched every aspect of their budget and are basically pushing money out as fast as it comes in. If one were to lose their income for an extended period of time, it’s lights out, the show is over. Right now most people are tolerating all of this because they pretty comfortably can.

i job hopped for a promotion because the pay was shit. i imagine many of my old coworkers are still cucking for a 3% raise. the 20% temporarily pay cut was done away wit after a few months, but the effects of inflation have probably nulled out the pay reinstatement. kek.

Confirming this.
SoCal household generates over $300k/yr.
Between mortgage, family expenses, cars (you are forced to get a larger car if you have more than two), and private school (LOL LET'S %300X THOSE EXPENSES HOPE THE SEX WAS GOOD), we're blasting through all of it and living paycheck to paycheck. We haven't changed anything because we don't have to, but if another shock comes along I will need to change something major -- like putting kids in *retch* public school.

Ultimately, we'll be fine because, believe it or not, we are being financially conservative as compared to the average family this area. The key is finding a woman that can actively participate in managing finances so you're both on the same page.

There are many guys in my situation who are on the knife's edge of being absolutely btfo because they're blowing through it all to keep up appearances for their wifeys and families.

I mean... the real plan is that I'm not going to be at 300k forever, I'm just going to make more money so it won't matter.

But to actually engage your point, that only really works at ~4th grade or so, after they give you the brainlet test.
Pre-k, Kindergarten, and 1st-4th grade are all on the parents.
And before you say it, yes it matters. Those are extremely important development years, it's a huge advantage to do things like make sure they're exposed to classical music theory/composition around age 4, are multilingual (not just bilingual) by age 6, etc., and are able to share those experiences with a group of peers that can keep up.

>inb4 but I'm fine
No. No you're not, even if you're doing well now. You don't know what you could have been because your parents denied you the opportunity to realize your potential. You're a rentoid, you have no net worth, if you're lucky you own a tiny cuck mobile, more than likely you have to ride in ze pod. You will share walls with your neighbors for the rest of your life.

US bro here, I literally know a single mom with 3 kids and an average job that went balls deep in financing to get a new GMC suv, such is the culture here. People can't downsize very well, it would require too many lifestyle changes

cars are expensive because of a chip shortage which is keeping inventory low

homes are expensive because inventory is low. inventory is low because everyone who bought the past 2 years got a sub 3% interest rate fixed for the life of the loan, and is either living in the place themselves or renting it out to some cuck who is paying 3x their monthly interest in rent

there are no parallels to 2008

I refinance auto loans for a living. Please, consider the following advice:
>If you cannot buy a luxury vehicle with one upfront payment, you should be driving a $6,000 car.
>Get GM vehicles. The idea that American cars are less reliable has no basis in reality. Foreign vehicles (besides luxury) are all made in America and usually in the same factories and by the same workers as GM cars
>When your local refinance agent asks you to send two power of attorneys, stop fucking sending only one

Have a 1 year old, another one due in 6 months. I jut traded in my wife's 2013 civic for a hyundai palaside new 2022. 33k, 4%. Needed something bigger and more safe, decent warranty. She's gonna keep this boy for another 10 years.

My boss just bought a brand new car cause it was smarter than paying almost the same price for a low mileage used car, used cars are insane right now and it's driving up demand for new cause if you're going to buy a car would you rather have a car with 10k miles on it that you aren't really sure the history of or pay like 3k more and just get one new?
