Living in a car is really epic until it gets broken into while you sleep, until you get herded by cops in the middle of the night, until a triple digit heatwave, until a drunk driver hits you while you’re sleeping on the side of the road breaking your neck and turning you into a cripple. Landlord here, stop talking about this. You VILL pay ze rent.

That said, get a hatchback but I can't recommend a Honda Fit (at least the late 2000s model). Shit keeps breaking, and if you're not a manlet you can't stretch out properly in the back without removing the front passenger seat entirely which I don't think is worth it. I think car-camping is a great idea if you're going to do a cross country road trip since hotels are mainly a scam. Sign up with Anytime fitness or any other 24-hour nationwide gym chain with showers and look up local areas where overnight parking/camping is legal (like visitor centers and walmart parking lots, etc) and you're good to go. Biggest problem at that point is eating healthy, don't binge on fast food.

god tier is a tour bus, so comfy even rich niggas love them

made it tier, prob a trailer? but it's not that mobile

the top tier is obviously an RV/camper but it's not stealth (but works if you literally go camping? off road a lot?)

excellent tier is a TALL work van (sprinter/promaster/transit) (if you make it stealth, otherwise it's shit tier)

great tier is a minivan (best stealth of all, cheap, great car performance, no headroom, but decent enough to fit critically important things.)

good-tier - econoline vans? theyre roomy but easily known as the creep vans. poor car performance and needs repairs constantly

meh tier is probably a pickup truck(lots of space, can probably be stealth, but seems like it attracts thieves)

low tier is a tesla (AC functionality is supposedly good, no room/expensive)

shit tier is a rando shitbox econocar (it's barely comfortable to even drive)

imo minivan is the most realistic choice for most people considering it. most people easily fit in the cargo area. and if you make money you need to shoot for a sprinter van and have it customized for hvac/bathroom/bed/power/stealth.

there's a bunch of shit on youtube about it. it looks awesome, but i think it's a bit deceiving. most of the campers aren't really an abject poverty. they're either digital nomads making decent money. youtubers/influencers. or rich kids that are dipping their toe in for a few months. also the better builds are actually just businesses showing their work. they have a ton of expertise on construction, electrical work, etc. and make the vans to eventually sell them to rich cunts. then start the next build. and it seems the legit ones don't have the sexiest looking lives. they look like old hippies or crusty white people.

that said it still does look cool for sure. here's one of the grifters i was talking about. he makes custom vans and sells them when he finishes the builds. in my opinion he has the most practical and intelligent builds.

Built window covers like in the image, except black on one side. Used some sticky velcro on glass and shade to keep the windshield ones ups. Rear seats folded down, and front seat forward, I could lay fully flat, but only on an angle (L rear tire to R passenger seat), and only flat on my back, then. Again, I'm 6'4", though, too. I have not had anything on the fit break on me, with 76k miles on it, but also do my own maintenance and repair. Good gas mileage, easy to repair, and reliable maker, too. If you are looking for something to live in full time a truck camper isn't it. It's just a cheap place to sleep without worry that doesn't require any setup.

The main benefit of the truck is that you can tow a RV/Boat/ATV with ease, and you can get to more remote off-road destinations that RVs/vans can't make it to.

Get a 90's Toyota landcruiser FJ80. I have a 1992 with 130k miles identical to picrel and am stealth homeless. Here's why i chose it:

>high roof height
>2 removabale back rows of seats, many blow up mattresses are available to fit this space perfectly or enough ceiling to build storage beneath the bed area.

>rear camper slider windows that are operable without turning the vehicle on, enabling you to open / close windows without getting out of bed

>very large sunroof that is handy for keeping the vehicles interior cool while you sleep (heat goes up anon) that tilts up so you can still have it cracked open without worrying about rain.

> truck style tail gate + door the comes up giving you alot more space / a spot to attach a tailgate tent if you so choose. or you can sit on the tailgate and smoke while being protected from rain

>very large amount of interior space

>extremely comfy, amazing suspension

>people will assume your an overlanding chad and not homeless because its basically the holy grail over overlanding vehicles. People will want to buy this vehicle form you if in good shape.

>reliable as fuck. there is a reason these were heavily used for safaris in africa. this vehicle while gutless has a straight 6 that will outlast you and your entire family.

>extremely offroad capable. even stock this thing will take you anywhere you want to go. Fulltime 4wd with diff. lockers.

>this is gonna vary depending on where you live but my 1992 is 30 years old, which means i have collector plates in washington state. no more registration ever.

Only shitty part is bad gas mileage. But if you're homeless you probably don't drive that much anyway.

9.5/10, would buy again.

>They are too heavy, you’re going to spend all your time digging it out, and mpg sucks.
Completely false.

The tires are so large they cut down to solid soild below and continue moving forward with their extremely low gearing. Their wading depth through water is unparalleled because of the intake position and tire height.

The mpg doesn't suck at all, certainly not for the size and potential GVM's. Its marginally worse than a 70 series landcruiser and they are often regarded as the best vehicle for remote area touring ever made. That is the reason you see people taking unimogs and landcruisers travelling across the world, because they are simply the best vehicles for it. The portal axels of the mog, simple design and large wheels let it go places other vehicles dream of. The unimog is a legitimately incredible feat of engineering. Portals, torque tubes, crawling and working group gearsets etc. IIRC the mog has the record for the highest altitude a car has ever been driven.

I understand on 4chan people don't wish to walk back a position and double down on their own, but to say a unimog isn't one of the best vehicles for travelling around the world is just daft. If you understanding of an 'overlanding' vehicle is some shitty jeep with a roof top tent and fridge in the boot for a 2 day trip driven over to camp from a town 40 minutes away, then you clearly have nil idea of what you are talking about with all respect.

I think you need a major fuck it attitude.
I always crack the window a touch for fresh air at night.
Im in the country currently and there are plenty of road side areas for sleeping.
In the city I guess parks are the best place. I like to move around and find half a dozen just so complaints are harder to police. Police haven’t been an issue, bogans turning up at midnight playing loud music sucks but a public place means no rights in this regards.
I think the mentality of being different and alone is the hard part. It’s not hard but you have to exit your vehicle and cook, clean bath etc and at times I just don’t want any attention. Karen’s are always looking to exert a power trip.

I need to effectively have all my necessities without a pile of crap.
I need a dc mini freezer type device.
I need to create an indoor clothes drying method.
I probably need to find a fitnfast type business for bathing etc but I will find a job first then do that.
I would like to save a much larger home deposit but is the reset going to cause mass unemployment and mass property foreclosure?
Car life is cramp but it’s better than a bad apartment building.

That mortgage rate is pretty sweet. Down here the longest we can set fixed interest rates is five years. Variable rates are 5-6%. The sleazy ways banks have to get money makes me sick. I think the neets might be right.

There is one sensible solution to the "van life"

>buy trailer/RV
>park it in front of your parent's house and HOPE you live in an area where nobody will get pissed that you're keeping a trailer/RV on the street for an extended period of time
>run an extension cable to your parent's house for power
>live "independently"
>go into your parent's house when you want to cook or take a shower.

one important requirement from what i've seen on youtube, is to be able to move from drivers seat to back and vice versa without going out of the door.

the Honda Element seemed like a good fuel efficient setup, until they discontinued it

>unironically the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

if only they were more reliable, motors keep blowing out,

Now that Jeep Chrysler is owned by huge conglomerate Stellantis, I wonder if they will finally get the Jeep up to the 4Runner level of reliability

you'll never dry your clothes in your car efficiently, better to have bags to store dirty clothes in and just go to a laundrymat once every few weeks. they also have clothes washer and driers in most big truck stops as well as showers

Based. The fj80 is probably the best land cruiser series but I love the extra horsepower and smoother ride in the 100. Picrel is the first thing I did on mine, always have the essentials ready to go and with a couple jerry cans I can stay away from civilization for days on end. They really are the ultimate freedom machines.

Prius was the meta for a long time. I guess a Tesla would be a straight upgrade if youre rich and stay in areas woth the infrastructure for it, but at that point why not get a camper van or a house

Steve Walls

this guy's channel is probably the best. Pro tip, use "Stealth camping" as search term instead of "van life" or something. This guy also does a lot of videos just camping in a tent as well. But he has some car camping ones like this as well

Came here to say this. The Honda Element is the best car to live in by far. The seat go straight down into a bed. I bedded many a whore when I had one
