What do you mean europeans don't invest in AC? they do, actually, it's just very few euros who do it, they probably invest far more in useful things like i don't know, lovelace and staking on loveloot. As for me, the AC actually gave me the flu a couple of times, or just straight up a snotty nose, it's just not worth it. Their infrastructure most likely wouldn't be able to handle it.

Niggers are America's gods. Americans fear niggers like a mortal would fear God. They're not allowed to curse or speak ill of niggers, like how you mustn't blaspheme God or take His name in vain. They devote entire institutions in academia and media to remind themselves of their sins against niggers and beg for mercy, like you'd beg God for forgiveness for your sins. The only landmarks and monuments they're allowed to revere are parks, schools and statues dedicated to famous niggers, immortalized in marble like gods. While their ancestors expressed devotion to gods through offerings of food and drink, present-day Americans created food stamps for niggers for this very purpose. Jesus gets two annual days of reverence, while niggers get an entire month plus MLK's birthday. Americans prostrate themselves in the streets to appease niggers. This is because nigger worship is the official religion of America.

If you earn a real salary (€60k minimum) then you buy ac because the two months or heck one month out of the year where it is hot is worth €1.000 to you or whatever it works out as over the lifetime of a unit. If you're poor, like most europeans are, and live on €22k a year which is €15 after tax then you literally cannot afford ac.

€60k might not even be a real salary anymore especially when taxes rape you for half of it.

Or you can live in the 21st century and have an air conditioner. They work ridiculously efficiently at night when things get cooler but still balmy and humid outside. Many thermostats can do overcooling down a few more degrees to take advantage of that, which makes sleeping very comfy and lets the thermal mass of the house carry itself through the morning and early afternoon without having to run the aircon at all. This works because houses in the US are extremely well insulated since 20 years ago. Like 2/3rds of every goddamn wall is foam and fiberglass. You should know this since you pricks are always laughing about our 2x6 framing.

>>50528853
Check pic related. If you live in a 30+ zone then a properly sized heat pump can do all your HVAC. If you live in a 20 or lower zone, you will need supplemental heat for a few weeks a year. A lot of people choose to use resistive electric heat for those times, which is the most expensive way to heat generally, but it takes a lot of years of resistive heat on the super cold days to make up the cost of sliding a 20kBTU/hr propane furnace into your HVAC stack.

Trying to sleep with everything being damp, sweating but it does nothing because the air is saturated. It's awful. That unit is listed as 3kW cooling and 6kW heating capacity. That may be enough for denmark. Looking it up, your climate is 0C average night time low and -20C minimum, with the high being around 30? A heat pump like that, I'd expect to cover 120 m^2 in a properly insulated home. You would surely skirt the limits of the machine on the coldest days, and may even need to use electric space heat on the few days a year where it drops to -10 or lower. I live in the Netherlands and have a split unit for my living room (80m2) and my bedroom (20m2). The outside unit is a 5KW unit and is capable of cooling everything on 35 degrees (95 degrees for burgers) days. I also have a separate split unit for my office which works fine of course. I can’t tell you how well it would heat, as we have floor heating (with water) throughout the house.

Yeah those temps are right on the mark. The days over 30C are pretty rare, but become unbearable because our houses here are built primarily to stay warm in winter.

I don't know what the US equivalent is, but I have remote heating distributed by a "gas furnace" (not sure that's the correct term?) to radiators in the house. Like pic related.

It doesn't do anything for cooling, but don't know if a heatpump system would be more energy efficient for winter heating. I'm kind of stupid when it comes to this stuff.

Awesome can you tell me how much you pay in energy? Like cooling your house on a hot summer day, how much does it cost per hour to have it regulate the temperature to comfortable levels? if you know.

You don't need to use your AC year round, and by not doing so you actually extend the life of it dramatically, I use mine usually through mid/late may through mid/late sept, but I live in Texas, during the rest of the year I don't really need to use it and just open the windows, when it IS hot however I am thankful to God in heaven that I have it and pray every day that It doesn't go out

That's fine anon but you need to monitor the humidity in your home, you could end up with serious mold, mildew or insect problem with high humidity. my house before i bought it had crazy moisture problem and i had to replace basically everything wood in the house, all the floor joists, all the subflooring, most of the center beam, the floor seals and shit because it was allowed to sit like that with high moisture levels in the house for like 15-20 years. floor was literally falling in in places.

Eurotrash will be begging for American gas this winter while they cannibalize the weak and old in the streets. They won't be able to afford AC.

I got some fine American gas if they want it cheap. Pic rel.

>What about a air-to-air heat pump system
That's literally what an AC is.
>Worth installing as the only heating source?
Yes, it's the most efficient type of heating you can get. Any reverse cycle air conditioner will be more efficient at heating than cooling, because the way they work is they generate heat by compressing a gas in the condenser, then they dissipate the gained heat through a stack of fins and let it condense into a liquid, then they send that liquid to the evaporator and let it expand (drop pressure), and as you know gases cool as they expand. When you're using it for heating, your indoor unit will act as a condenser and you'll gain almost all of the heat that you've produced.

My electricity bill isn’t representative for actual costs on a variable plan I’m afraid. Even with the few days the AC was on full blast for the past month, my electricity bill currently is only 12.15 euros thanks to a very low fixed rate and solar panels. The AC has been on 6 days in the past month.

Because Winter is more prominent than Summer.

Imagine being German and thinking you should spend more of your annual energy bill cooling down rather than staying warm.

AC is maybe good for a large office building since they'll compensate the cost with productivity/output. In a home, it's just an added luxury you'll use for maybe 3/12 months.

This right here. I'm living in 93 yo building and the outside of the building is protected so you can’t get permits to install ac units. I bought one of those portable units tho. Got friends who live in newer buildings and it's hella less paper work to get the permits in those and they have ac units installed there.
