Ford just announced they’ll be laying off 25% of their salaried staff. Other companies have slowed or frozen hiring after doing layoffs. Soon we’ll people recently laid off competing for a very small amount of jobs on the market, sort of like the housing market is now, and companies will be able to drop wages to literally nothing because they’ll have so many options.

Many white collar eagles will be forced to take jobs that are part of the “labor shortage”, that is, awful retail and service jobs where boomers literally want you to kill yourself.

This is all with a backdrop of unprecedented inflation on food and energy. I’m unironically worried.

It’s 25% if their salaried workforce in the US

> Ford employs approximately 87,000 employees in the U.S., including about 31,000 salaried employees, the company said Wednesday.

Oldfag here, this is my fourth catastrophic recession as an adult. The first in 99. It will be fine. Go back to school if there are no jobs. It honestly doesn't matter all that much. Plus we are already part way through the recession, because of how we keep track of it. If you get fired, enjoy the time off. There's no such thing as climbing the corporate ladder anymore, so you'll eventually be better off finding a new company in a couple of years. Honestly fuck these people, go do something you enjoy while they get their shit together. You didn't cause the recession, THEY did. Not your problem.

most of them are nothingburgers
2001: nothingburger in general; it was mainly a political crisis; war protests etc.
dot.com bubble: nothingburger if you were not into those stocks specifically
2008: ok that hit a lot but americans didn't give a shit within ~2 years max; it mainly hit southern europe with austerity and ireland

covid 2020: predictable shit; not actually an economic crisis; mainly a "we can't do our jobs properly for a few weeks" crisis

now: not sure if it's even anything; it's mostly talk; it's mainly the gas prices because of putin (at the very least).

25% that's a lot. I hope they don't since there got a lot coming into their companies like holoride VR tech and a few more. I believe they'll need the workforce.

>awful retail and service jobs where boomers literally want you to kill yourself.
This happened just tonight
>be me
>try to say something to my zoomer coworker that I actually somewhat like talking to
>boomer coworker bitches at me to get out front when there's unironically no customers and nothing to clean
>I ask her if she's a manager
>she gets giga pissed and says she'll get one
>which means she's not a manager kek
>other fat boomer coworker says you're not gonna talk to us like that even though I only said it to the other one
>hamplanet manager comes into the back and smiles at me
>you know why I'm here?
>Yeah I'm being harassed when there's literally no customers so I'm not wasting half an hour talking about my feelings go away
>fatass manager fucks off because she can't do anything
>I don't say anything to the fatass boomer coworker that called the manager over except golly fee when she pointed out a spot on the floor
>this same boomer told me she inherited half a million when her parents died in the 80s and she's working here cause she wants to
Fuck boomers. They're all spiritual niggers that turn daily life into a needless hell. I'd say roughly 3/4th of boomers could be thrown into mass graves and only shitty people would have died.
