Signature Bank has been the center of numerous protests due to mistreatment of tenants by landlords who receive loans from the bank.[30][31] Despite these accusations, the Association for Neighborhood & Housing Development has applauded the bank's commitment to responsible lending practices as it pertains to low and middle income tenants.
Hmmm sounds promising that they do a lot of not so great loans and could get squeezed by rates and rising unemployment.

I had that happen to me years ago. I woke up on fire. I was screaming and trying to move but I was nailed to the bed. Then JC came in to view and told me that everything would be ok. The flames died down and the nails evaporated. I’m not a religious person, but it was the most surreal experience of my life. I went to the church down the street and the next day and told the priest what had happened to me. He said Jesus had called upon me and that I’d been ordained by Christ.
I’ve been a Paladin ever since.

Looking at the charts, we can assume that it will continue in the channel. Thus, 132, 133, 134 are very likely to expire OTM. Looking at the last two sessions, they have a strong resistance at 130.50 or so.
On the right, you can see it escaped 2 SDs on the bbands, which should indicate that it is a good time to make an entry (or short), I've seen a few traders on Twatter suggest that trading within a bband is a bad idea. The 9MA (red line) seems like it could pass above the 50MA (yellow). The stoch RSI is embedded for several sessions, which could indicate a trend reversal (eg, it wasn't a one-off breakout).
STC and MACD indicates a strong trend, but it can't continue forever. Ergo, I think this Friday might see it dip below 128, but trend upwards over the next few weeks.

Options are basically a form of speculation and hedging done on leverage. Often, people will use them to have exposure to certain price movements, without having to actually own the stock.
The price of a contract is determined by three inputs: days to expiry, implied volatility (IV), and strike price. You can do all sorts of derived values, called greeks, which provide metrics for how the contract value should change with regards to movements in those inputs.
I look at option flow, which is high daily trade volume against a low existing position, eg Vol>OI. This indicates a large movement into a position. On the option chain I saw lots of contracts on WMT, so I tried to reconstruct what sort of position they had (long and short). If you were a money manager, you'd want the safest guaranteed position, hence why I was fucking with it to find the highest % chance of success. That's why I also compared the flow to the chart to confirm my idea

This may not be the best place to ask this but is should I be converting all my dad's superannuation into holding cash now? I'm not good with money and my mom is saying now that everything is down I should sell it all and hold cash to stop it from dropping further. I've been arguing with her because I think it's not the best of ideas now but she is getting increasingly pissy at me and asking me to teach her so she can convert it herself.

>> No.50439035

I find that there's an interesting dynamic between long and short option price targets. Eg, long is "I want the price to MOVE", whereas short is "I want the price to be in this RANGE". Obviously, it's much easier to say a stock will be between $125 to $135 than to say if it will move by $5 in a specific direction in 4 days.
And I'm not trying to hedge or make a delta-gamma hedge or anything. I'm happy to follow the flow and see what big players are doing, since it provides clues on where the market might be moving. The trend is your friend and all that. Besides, I simply don't have the capital or margin to enter even a speculative $5,000 trade yet. I mean, my portfolio is worth well past that, but I don't want to gamble.

Anon, investing is supposed to be cold, hard, logic. If it makes sense to sell it, then fine, but keep in mind that she's a woman and acting on emotion.
Not only that, it's a paper loss. When everyone is freaking out from losses, that's when you start to DCA on the way down and build a bigger, better position in different asset classes so that when people realize the bottom was already in, you have a comfy position. Remember that tops and bottoms can only be recognized in hindsight.
But also keep in mind that anything you buy right now is basically guaranteed to lose money as soon as you buy it. I'd expect another 20-30% haircut

i will do my fiduciary duty and tell you probably no, you shouldn't sell. the market is already down considerably. the time to sell was earlier this year. by selling, you crystalize that loss. yes, your mom is right we could go down more, but it is hard to time that. it is most optimal to get out early, stay cash and reinvest slowly near "the bottom". we dont know where the bottom is though, it could be now, in which case selling is the wrong decision as you would miss the upside. on the other hand, the bottom could be in 1 year. if that portfolio/pension is a long term hold you should be okay...assuming you don't need to drawdown and live of the portfolios gains right now...but i dont know the exact circumstances of your situation. if you need the money, then perhaps selling a little bit isn't the worst idea, most people think we have more downside to go. these things are very hard to time, and it would suck to get thoroughly heemed one way or the other.

Also a great reason why most people ITT shouldn't fucking touch leveraged products (specifically 2x or inverse ETFs). As soon as I saw levered equities were allowed, I knew retail would get heemed by them.

Remember! Mathematically a loss hurts you more than a win helps you, so it's in your best interest to accumulate defensively and reduce losses if you don't know what the fuck you're doing.

>Start with $1000
>Gain 10%, or $100. Now worth $1100
>$100 is 9.1% of your portfolio, so it's easier to lose $100 now

>Start with $1000
>Lose 10%, or $100. Now worth $900
>$100 is 11.1% of your portfolio, so it's harder to gain $100 now

This is why compound gains or losses are so significant. If you could gain a consistent percentage amount every year, while minimizing drawdowns, you'll probably perform very well over 5 or 10 years.

in that case i would probably keep Dollar Cost Averaging into the market, especially at these discounted prices. The most dangerous position to be in is if the market crashes right when you retire and need to drawdown money from your portfolio. if you saved 2 million for example, a crash of 20-40% would be a monumental loss that could take a a couple years to recover from(and would mean your yearly fund is lower or you dont have enough to last until you die). but you dont seem to be there. if your dads portfolio is huge, perhaps you could sell a tiny bit just in case of a more severe downturn, and maybe that would be enough to soothe your moms fears? there is an extremely high probability that in 5-10 years the market will have recovered and be higher

Absolutely. If you invested in your early 20s, put a large part of your pay check in low cost index funds every time, you would be so far ahead of people later in life it wouldn't even be funny. Line goes up because cash is a poor investment most of the time, investors require a return and as the economy grows, stocks of good companies(or the market index) return shareholders money by making money. a stock is an asset that buys you future cash flows(rent) of a company, discounted in the present time, because you dont have those profits yet

I don’t, mortgages are front loaded. All interest has practically been paid in the first 5 years. I have less than a 1.9% rate locked in for about 5 years. Canadian, system is different than USA.

Him and Mark Cohodes are trying to bait holders into fedposting so they can paint us as terrorists. After the NFT marketplace was announced, Michael Pachter claimed that it would be used to fund Al-Qaeda. I’d you don’t know by now that GME baggies are doing something right then idk what you’re smoking

I don't get what "front-loaded" means in this case.

Say you borrow $100k for 20 years for a house at 2%. You owe this interest rate every year. If in year 10 you've paid back half of the principal, that means for that year you'll have to pay $1k in interest. How does frontloading decrease that? You can take the $1k and pay it in the first year, you can even pay the $20k of interest generated over the 20 years all in the first year, but you're still paying it.

>All interest has practically been paid in the first 5 years.

If anything this sounds like it would increase how much interest you have to pay? You want to pay off the principal as fast as possible, if you're frontloading interest payments, that means the principal is still there.

How is the Canadian mortgage different from what I described above?

(gonna post in the new thread too so we can continue there)
