The panels have an industrial guarantee of 25+ years to loose 20% of their efficiency, but really they can go on for much longer. The cost of waste is null compared to the co2 saved from their production. The earth is slowly being drained of Si and every other material required to produce the electrical charge. What you say is partially true. I work for a start up in that field and work with people in the waste business. Windmills are a recycling nightmare. The blades are made from composites, layered fibreglass steel and resin. It does degrade when pyrolysed, fibres come off semi clean, the residual oils and gasses are toxic and barely re useable. Let alone taking in transport, decomissioning, lubricating oil, tons of concrete for foundation. We even got requests from market leaders trying to figure out how to solve their waste problem. The whole recycling industry is 90% about keeping stuff IN circulation. Compounding plastics with additives and other shit. The whole market is becoming increasingly more complex because everyone mixes shit with more garbage and nobody ACTUALLY measures stuff like this. There is a mega push for having a mandatory minimum percentage recyclate in all products. And for the panels, they use quartz, look up what is a byproduct of quartz mining and what the ratio usefull to useless dug up is.
