>even if it had somehow stayed dry?

It's a staged photo with a mix of coins and relics both dug and undug with corrosion or lack thereof to match their different prior environments. If it was somehow real, the moisture necessary to corrode the interior of the box, several large cents, and the revolver would have utterly destroyed the bills, fabric and cardboard items and if even recognizable they would have been covered in mold. It's probably just a cool cover photo spread from a Western/Treasure magazine from the 60s-70s but not actually authentic.

I saw a 1/10 ounce gold eagle before (which will be slightly bigger due to having some silver and copper) and they're hilariously small. Slightly smaller than a dime and thinner, too. Frankly, if you aren't in the know about Gold's value it seems like a scam with how small it is. It still seems like a scam when you are in the know because they often have 30-50% premiums. 1/4 ozt gold has a much more reasonable premium and are slightly bigger than a nickel, I think those are much better to get.

If you put it in a capsule it seems a bit bigger but is still smol. If you want small gold with a decent size then get a gold 1 ducat piece. They're almost pure gold, have a longer diameter, and have a bit more than 1/10 oz.
Not sure if they're as liquid though because they don't display the gold weight on them and the average boomer probably doesn't even know what it is.
I still like them though as the portrait of that Austrian dude looks cooler than other monarchs and the back has an even nicer design. The fact that it's an older design, and thus has more sovl than new ones, also plays a big part in its attractiveness to me. Other than my first gold, the 1/10 oz age, all my gold has the older designs. Because older shit is just better.

Lads, I'm 2/4 flea markets down and even found one accidentally that I didn't know about.

Nothing but trash, all the coins are old tin the Arabs already picked through, but I did find a table with a dozen Königreichmark on the table. They should be 900 pure. The seller was Arab so I was suspicious and pulled out my rare earth magnets.

He watched me stick them on each coin like a refrigerator magnet. Every single one fucking fake as shit. Too bad Arabs can't feel shame

The other guy selling coins wanted €10 for old dirty 5 Mark coins he just threw around like trash. Didn't even haggle. He was dressed like a circus performer and was a professional flea market seller. I've seen him before and his coins are always in poor condition.

This site lists some stuff, but they miss SO MUCH of what's out there.

For little stuff, I like the One Ducat restrikes, 20 franc coins, 10 Guldens, 1/4 US commemoratives.
Premiums on little stuff are higher now cause they've been in demand more now that people are waking up to the crash, plus gold just dumped too.

Yes. Generally, gov't-issued coins are at their least expensive while they're still being minted. Once they stop minting and retailers can no longer replenish, the price jumps and typically never looks back. Not always, but it's incentive enough for me to buy new coins almost exclusively now (I have a generic bar stack already - don't need more, but some generics are just too pretty).

I successfully panned some smol glacial gold in Central Illinois so I'm sure you can find some in Iowa. >Is that some kind of security measure?
Kek.. no. It's and artifact of resizing and screen capturing the result. The original sizes are 6kx4k. I use an old (*very* old) version of ACDSee to fit to screen, capture, then use Paint to crop and edit out dust. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to keep the granite free of dust, even after just rotating a coin to get the other side.
I could use GIMP to resize properly, but that actually more work. At least until I get more familiar with it. But it resizes properly and without the moire.
