You don't have to empty your paycheck into metals. In fact if you don't have any savings, this is an insane obsession. You really should keep about a month's salary as ugly old savings. well you probably know the rules. have some emergency savings. make sure your bills are paid. then save/spend the rest. metals seem a far better purchase than plastic garbage imported from china. if you don't have land maybe save for a down payment on some of that instead, if you're so inclined.

That table 1.4.2 was interesting for Both silver and platinum as they are relatively easy to stack. I wonder about the top of that list. Indium might be doable to stack if the chart is correct about the increasing demand but there's a high likelyhood i just never get to sell it and if that's the case i'm just sitting there with kilo's of indium. I'm not going to solder away kilo's of indium and i probably will never diy solar panels.
Still, silver and platinum seem to look like good 2030 bets even if the upside might be less than some of the other rare elements.

Rotometals will buy metals like indium. You send them a sample (about a quarter ounce will do), and they'll tell you their price based on purity. I've only asked about indium before (years ago). Don't know what else they buy.
Expect a lowball price though - they can buy wholesale from their usual suppliers after all. So this means you'd have to wait for a large increase in price, and considering the mass needed to make a profit and the cost of shipping... meh.

Price is suppressed because if people protect themselves then banks can't pursue their inflationary policies. They need retards to keep their capital in overleveraged assets. Once capital flows from financial assets to commodities then the game is over. Normal price movement would/should reveal this, however the banks can never allow people to secure profits in the PM sector as that is the exact opposite of what they need to happen to continue inflating. The price adjustment will occur suddenly, once it is too late and the damage is already done. When the music stops, every seat will already be taken and the actualized losses of hundreds of trillions worth of bad paper will land right in your lap.

Just got my old solid sterling beer and coffee mug in the mail, 244 grams so it cost only a little under current melt value, but it's in great shape with no engravings and holds 16 ounces with a 1/2 inch to spare which I'm absolutely ecstatic about (the can is a 16oz too). Big sterling mugs like these are hard to find, it feels damn good to cross this one off the want-list. Happy hunting frens!

Check out these sterling medallions I just got at a local auction.

Paid $344 for 18 medallions, and they're each 36g(+/- .1g) of sterling. Comes out to 19.27toz @ $17.88/toz. They're from The Wittnauer Mint which was bought out by Franklin Mint and were marketed on the Longines Symphonette radio show. I've read conflicting information saying these were minted in the 70s, but the Longines Symphonette was a radio show from the 30s up through the 50s. These things carry a crazy premium just from looking around, so I'm psyched to get them for near spot. Let me know if you want close ups and reverses of any of these and I'll post them.

Fren, you have to watch it like a hawk, then deal with boomers and Xers that are selling off their stash, they offer to meet you in public, but at the last minute change their mind and invite you to their house down the back street, and then make you sit on their dirty floor on a couch pillow with a bong in the room while you sit, count, and verify bags of mercury dimes, and then they offer you homemade red gummy bears out of a plastic baggy and practically stick them in your face, then sweat you to take them to the bank afterwards so they can deposit the money, and then ask for you to stop at the gas station so they can pick up a 30 pack of budlight. There are some deals on Craigslist, but you gotta be ready for that kind of shit.

Picrel were the completed listings values that ebay showed to me which I used in the graphing. You're saying that's not accurate, and the "best offer accepted" values are above what is shown? How do you see the accurate values?

I never liked the Make Offer option on these listings, and ebay is getting worse at showing what happened. It might be a good time to retire tracking all these coins as it's getting to be too much work, and will only get crazier with more coins being released with more complicated variations such as gilded/non-gilded, serial/non-serial, same coin but different year, etc.

you're an idiot
the reason silver (and everything else) dumped is because the money spigot has been curtailed with higher interest rates
the moment this is reversed (in order to save the crumbling economy) and the money spigot goes back on in full force, this is going to cause silver (and to a lesser extent gold) to moon.

this is why everyone saying "hurr durr gold and silver aren't doing well in an inflationary environment" is dead wrong. the market is currently predicting higher interest rates i.e. not inflationary environment. that's why assets are dumping. the moment this reverses, we will be in a VERY inflationary environment, and we'll see price discovery of metals

Thanks for the screenshot. I don't think there's any way to see offers accepted on eBay as an outside party. Before I was able to set the price range of sold items to figure out the price by narrowing it down, but that no longer seems to work for me.

I'm going to have to think about what to do with tracking these resales. Either exclude offer accepted unless I get proof like the screenshot you provided, or the lazy approach of using all this as an excuse to retire from tracking. =D

Good news is it appears "Make Offer" wasn't utilized by sellers much except with some WAGMIs and now Bogs...so the tracking has been more or less accurate until now.

Right now its price is very low, but of course vendors are keeping a high premium because they don't want to lose their bottom line, and Pt doesn't sell enough to cost-average out.
But if you can get it for under say $950/ozt, I think you'd do extremely well to buy.

Anyhow, in terms of which metals to buy now?
I'd say definitely silver and platinum. I don't hate on silver, but my approach is a bit more realistical. Why should it ever pump to 4000 or whatever some schizos are saying here? Its abundant and can be mined anywhere.
Double the price from what it is now, seems a realistic goal.
Same expectations I have for platinum. Easily doubling the price over the next years.

My LCS has a uncirculated one for $50, but that's the only one he has currently.
I have no clue what a reasonable amount to pay for a circulated Boat Dollar is.

Boat dollars command something of a premium and will generally be excluded from bulk buys unless it's in cull condition.
Most online locations that sell leaf coins will have a date range on coins. 1958 or so is the general cutoff for cheapies and then you get into a 4 or 5 dollar premium on places like Apmex. Most places don't even have the older dollars to sell.
I have only ever bought mine as singles from Canadian online coin shops or eBay stores.
I'd say 30 to 35 cad is about average to pay for a boat dollar if you don't care about the condition. Prices scale up as the condition gets better. You might find one for much less if you're buying from a casual off eBay.
If you have a price point in mind I can help you shop. I was just shopping for my ms64 recently and might have some still bookmarked.

I placed an order last week and had I waited till this Friday instead I could've got more desu

>silver isn't worth a fixed/set amount of fiat
It seems to average out at about $20. If I bought a ton in the 1980s when it was worth $20 and sold it today when it was worth $20 wouldn't I have lost out at whatever rate the fiat dollar has devalued over 40 years?
