I'm just going to point out 2 things right quick, because I believe DRS should only be for "never sell" shares and people should sell for brokers to supersede the CS sell limit.

1, if all brokers rug there goes literally everybody's 401k and the entire economy. Money would be worthless, MOASS wouldn't mean anything and only bullets and toilet paper do anymore. Realistically if this was a threat, Fed would bail them out and print money.

And 2, Your personal holdings and "IOU" even if they didn't have your share counts on their books as part of their AUM. Brokers won't dump shares if they were on the hook for shorts because without holding those shares on their book they would be further into the hole than if they held them for you. Even if you sell, better to let you sell whenever as that eliminates a short. As your shares grow, the brokers' shares grow, so dumping your shares would be shooting themselves in the foot and making matters even worse. If they didn't have your share, they will hold onto the IOU being real for all their life because it's their only hedge against the cost of the short. It's important to keep money in brokers so we can milk MOASS for all its worth.

Shemitah means "release," a year in which the faithful do not tend their crops, releasing the land from servitude.
