Gold and silver aka "inflation hedge" according to goldbugs is going down like the Titanic, despite currently having the highest inflation of the last forty years. What gives?

Assets are dropping in expectation of another big rate hike. CPI will probably start dropping in q4, it just runs behind the markets. Same way that the stock market went nuts in 2020 but CPI didn't start to pick up until 2021. Once the Fed realizes they're causing a recession and pivots back, everything will explode upward again.
