Currently DTCC goes through a very expensive process of settlement every day to finalize all the trades that took place on paper in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Many billions of dollars per day has to actually go from one bank account to another.

They want to use a blockchain technology to do this. But how can they prove X account has Y balance? Or what the price of A/B was at Z time? Who could they possibly trust THAT much? Who has possibly built an entire network built on airtight game theory to force data to be absolutely perfectly true, forever?
