I am currently working two jobs for free. Unironically. For no wage. They aren't even janny jobs.
One of them is meant to offer me employment at the end of the "training period", which actually took two days, but was listed as a month. I expect to be fired without cause though, and I will take them to court. If they actually do hire me, then neat I guess.
I wear a wire all the time now, after getting shitcanned "without cause" after complaining that a piece of machinery was basically at failure point (it later did fail, and two people died).
The other job is one I actually want to do (gym wagie), and it's one of those "you have to work for free while you get your qualification :))))" deals.
I do get it though - I'm not allowed to do anything unsupervised, because their insurance is void if something happens and I was unsupervised, so it's closer to an actual internship. If I didn't actually enjoy that job, I would be going postal right now. At the very least, they give me free gym membership and free protein bars.
I have a relevant degree in another field, but every single company just hires remote workers from another company now, because they can do it below the minimum wage. Once the "work from home" shit started, they just dropped all pretense.

You're doing something wrong man. Specifically, you don't have "experience in IT", you're a project manager. Not trying to be a dick, but you provide precisely 0 value to a company. With more and more companies moving their development teams to Agile/Scrum/Kanban, your job is increasingly becoming a real burden to actual IT professionals getting their work done. Devs on my scrum team take their own requirements from the customers, estimate their own work, we vote on it, and the work gets done. What possible need is there for a PM in that workflow? You're a bean counter recording how many hours someone else spends doing actual work and reporting it up to AVPs for GBPs.

I'm truly sorry, I'm just trying to keep it real with you, but if you want to actually take advantage of one of the hottest labor markets of the century, being a PM is not doing you any favors.
