Hiking affects the short end the most, the long end is affected by growth and inflation expectations.

The 2 year is up because of what you said. The 10/30 are down because they know that if the fed does hike 100 bps, growth will be monkey smashed even further. Inflation is a nothingburger at this point, the 10 y couldn’t even hold up 3% on the onset of the report.

Growth is #1 at this juncture, and the fed is destroying growth. This is why usually curve inversion tells the fed “ok back off”, because the bond market is saying the economy can’t take more hikes, and to stop it. The more he hikes, the more the curve inverts, and the slower he makes the economy. The short bond trade is done, buy every dip with leverage

In a sense, they're not wrong - consumers don't matter, what matters is that a company is profitable and input costs are low.
Business to business transactions matter more than everyday spending, as it creates large amounts of debt in the economy, which is essential to keep it moving. I gave it a thought and I think I see the angle they're coming from, though I'm too much of a midwit to fully appreciate the big picture.

"Inflation is good for stocks" sounds a lot like bagholder cope by some tech tranny. You must have the correct TYPES of stocks for the current macro environment to make gains in real terms. Tech stocks may make nominal gains, but not real, and they will underperform commodities and their producers.

1st priority is get the macro correct, then make levered bets on the appropriate sector. Do it wrong, you lose purchasing power. For a decade that has been tech, and these niggers get so damn complacent they think nothing will ever change.

It depends on your outlook. OKE is almost certainly going to double your money in 10 years with a high div yield. LNG would have 9x-ed it in that amount of time... buuuuuut how would you have known to hard long LNG in fucking 2012?

In hindsight, it's easy point to a company that blew up in the meantime. I'm talking about stuff where you can just plant money NOW that you don't want to think about. Large, established energy companies with fat div yields tend to be great for this. There's a reason buffet just went big into energy... it's one of the few safe longs in an unsafe market.

say you do this trade 1000 times
for simplicity lets also assume you exit if your loss reaches 1k
lets assume you're not gambling and actually have some basis to your trade and will beat the market (lol)
so you win 550 times and lose 450 times
your edge is then 10%
because you pay 12% transaction fees, you still lose

Correct. Their current premise is tank the economy because they hate the oil and gas industry, but the inevitable high oil prices torpdedos the election for them. Now they have to decide between lay offs or high gas prices.

I get it, you don't place any worth on value stores in an equity market when the bond market is trash; you would rather have everything trading on your higher-risk higher-yield strategies whenever possible.
