What is the probability that Germany will suffer a gas shortage this fall and winter, and what would the finance and economic results be?

Germany immediately switches to nuclear power
No protests because no one wants to be cold
Energy prices plummet
Shitcoins pump like never before seen on this earth

first it wont, second large proportion of homes rely on gas for heating, not electricity

Don't worry, they have a plan!

Why can't Germans just use sweaters and blankets to warm themselves? It seems like a simple solution.

>Germany immediately switches to nuclear power
We have 3 plants that we could switch back on again in theory. That is nowhere near enough.

The other problem is that you cannot switch them on again easily. You need new fuel. You need to rehire workers, most of them specialists.

also have to understand that the party in charge in Germany, is the very party that is founded on anti nuclear sentiment. the german green party saying lets try nuclear, is like mike pence or donald would go on a stage and say fuc Jesus, its inherently opposed to their brand

>> No.50332057

>>50331903
It won’t. Nuclear power plants cost $15B and barely produce 1100 MHw/year. Only a brain dead faggot would use nuclear power plants for energy productions. There are far more capital efficient ways to produce electricity.

Nord Stream 1 is shut down now for routine maintenance. Normally, it would reopen on July 21. That's the date when the fun could begin.

the last three nuclear reactores produce each roughly 1400mhw/y and i could not find any information on how much they cost to run yearly, but since you understated the energy production so heavily, i guess you have either no clue either or are lying

Stop there. Germans are literally going to burn wood for warmth before that happens.

There's also the fact to consider that Germany has recently decommissioned plants to re-instate. That costs far less than building new ones.

Munich (as example..) can drop to -10-15 °C in Winter. You cant tell your water pipes to 'put another jumper on'. NoGaz, water must be turned off so pipes don't bust, lots will anyway, electricity prices are through the roof, oldies start solidifying.. Its an actual horror scenario.

I dont really think there is anything going to happen here, the Russians/Gazprom/Putin could literally just rugpull or just stop exporting gas overnight, they do not need any sort of excuse as they have no reason at all to not do it and everyone internationally realises this. If Russia wanted to cancel the deliveries, they could just say: Germany and the EU are supporting the Nazis and we can not deliver gas anymore due to their actions against us...

Nuclear plants take 10-15 years to build anon which is why Merkel is a criminal and should be jailed if we held our leader accountable. She single handedly impoverished hundreds of millions of europeans with her retarded policies (and I'm not talking about the rapes).

whatever you say. Why would Russia not deliver? Gas is at ATH and Russia makes billions a week selling it while Ukraine is lucky to get a few million a week. This entire situation is farcical.

It's a two-way street tho. A third of Russias budget is from Energy Sales and once Germany turns its back, not even Putin is naive enough to think they'll be returning to eat more Ivan shit anytime soon.

as long as you can sell billions worth of shit that you basically dont work for at all, you sell billions worth of shit. I dont see any sensible reason as to why a nuclear dictator with tremendous power and endless resources would just stop abusing his position. Russia wont be able to make that money somewhere else, only EU can pay these exorbitant prices and still beg for more.

Yeah, but the topic is if/when GAZ runs out.
You got a gas central / water heating in your house (nevermind entire city districts that run on a central gas heating system) - when you have NO GAZ, you can turn the thermostat to whatever you like. You simply have no heating. You r fucked.

just like any big system, energy resources are very fragile to conflict. germany has been trying their best to reduce cost on energy as far as possible, making the average person actually believe in their dreams of germany being an "alleskönner" which produces everything possible. you could ask most people in germany where most of their meat comes from and I guess the majority would say it's mostly from farms in germany. yet when a country has reduced the export of their products due to many possible reasons, every german is in shock due to increased prices. how could this be? is it the greens or lefties? conservatives? jews? globohomo?
yet every time it's the same shit. for the sake of cost reduction, the country has made itself fragile. for the sake of Hans Schmidt wanting his yearly costs to reduce, he produced a system which is vulnerable to volatility, making him actually lose out more on average.

people are actually shocked that they have to use THEIR OWN COUNTRIES NATURAL RESOURCES to generate energy. like it's the worst thing ever to even think of that. that's how fragile this country is
