>Bitcoin is a response to inflation.
Bitcoin is an attempt at limiting the amount of money that can be printed by central banks. You might think this is the same as "a response to inflation" but it's not.
>it is a contract with mechanisms that will not allow for inflation
It's a blockchain with a mechanism that prohibits total spend to exceed 21 million BTC. That is NOT the same as not allowing inflation.
>Any copy of this is an attempt at inflation and thus, less valuable
If I have 1 USD and make a copy of it and now 2 USD exists. Is the 2nd USD bill worth less than the first or are both devalued simultaneously?

Also Monero isn't a copy of Bitcoin, it's not a fork and it inherently works differently and on different principles. This is like calling a fighter jet and a bicycle copies of each other because they are both modes of transportation.

>People choose the best money, it’s winner take all
I agree, which is why XMR is slowly pushing out BTC from marketplaces. People choose the best money and only accept that in their commercial activity which is why Bitcoin is slowly being phased out in favor of Monero.

>> No.50328501

Until you can buy raw commodities on cme with crypto directly, it's all irrelevant. None of this shit is a store of value. If u understand how market imbalance works, monero chart looks awful on higher time frame. We can go into single digits during this recession and going into the single digits will balance the market. You’re missing the point, any currency that creates its own ledger is a cheap copy of bitcoin. It’s inflationary in its own right and thus a contradiction. Anything can be trustlessly swapped with bitcoin, and thus bitcoin fulfills it’s role as the best money. But continue to miss the point and hold monero, it’s almost as good as bitcoin (a copy, if you will)

I did understand your argument as it was common in the early days of Bitcoin when chains like Litecoin started going online and people making the argument that every chain created is just diluting the value over more blockchains.

However I explicitly disagree with that and refute it by showing that different currencies fulfill different purposes and therefor don't even target the same value. How much extra value is generated by Monero by having all transactions be private? How much extra value is generated by Monero by being fungible in nature? How much extra value is generated by ensuring mining will ALWAYS be profitable through tail emission.

Monero has a long-term vision, something which Bitcoin lacks. You're right that the best money eventually displaces the rest and wins out. Which is why we're seeing Monero replace Bitcoin when people actually exchange it as a currency.

This realization and seeing how the traditional strongholds of Bitcoin are being replaced with Monero extremely rapidly over the last couple of years has made me switch as a long term Bitcoin maxi to a Monero maxi.

The entire spirit and original ethos of Bitcoin is completely gone from the Bitcoin community and Monero is the closest to the original feeling and vision of what Bitcoin originally is.

Smart people jump when the ship is sinking. And Bitcoin being replaced from darknet markets by Monero is the Iceberg collision event in this methaphor.

Meanwhile, you've been trying to argue that IT TOTALLY DOESN'T MATTER because Bitcoin is magical and doesn't need to sustain utilitarian adoption in order to maintain its market value. Just being Bitcoin is enough!!

Furthermore and even more amusing is the assertion that the advent of the Monero-only standard in OPSEC-critical markets is meaningless and will totally have zero bearing on XMR's price in the coming years even though ALL DNM buyers will eventually be forced to buy and use XMR in order to do business, not to mention all the ransomware payouts that will also be XMR-only.

Common sense and historical precedent clearly indicate what this trend means for long-term prospects.

>Then by your own argument, all of monero is always tainted. The only people black listing bitcoins are centralized exchanges who have already blacklisted all of monero

Monero blacklisting is binary: either ALL coins are tainted or NONE are, so you are spared the Russian Roulette ambiguity BTC holders are forced to endure. You won't find yourself in a situation where you deposit your coins on a CEX only to discover they've been seized because some fuckheaded chain analysis bot has decided they're suspect.

Centralized exchanges also take marching orders from governmental bodies like OFAC, who can arbitrarily taint your coins just because they feel like it. You won't even know it unless you regularly check the blacklist

Furthermore, depending on centralized exchanges to remain viable is just asking for trouble, which is why you see such an emphasis being placed on DEX-ification among MoneroChads, we actually want to see XMR be banned/delisted across the board on ALL centralized exchanges to finally be rid of that dangling threat.
