Since OP is trying to convice how "great" of a country Bulgaria is, I am gonna share some truth regarding how this is NOT exactly true. I have been living in Bulgaria for 32 years now and what OP mentioned in terms of crime rate is somewhat true this is just the tip of the iceberg.

1.Starting from the kindergartens, if you live in Sofia (and where else would you be living if you want access to decent healthcare and education) the situation is really bad. If you have a kid, your kid is competing against 200 more for ONE spot at a state subsidized kindergarten. The only option is sending your kid to a privately owned kindergarten - this is 400EUR/month. That has been a longstanding problem but no one really cares since 3rd parties have interests in NOT building state subsidized kindergartens.
2.Following 1), Bulgaria is the country with the worst death:birthrate ratio in the EU. In 20 years, we will be taken over by gypsies. The state does 0 to encourage young people to get married and have children.
3.Healthcare is DECENT only if you live in the capital and have a lot of money. Again, state subsidized hospitals are a joke. In such a hospital, the best you could hope for is to die faster if you get hospitalized with a serious disease.
4.Corruption has taken over the entire country. High level politicians are tightly connected to the bulgarian "mafia" and syphon money from the EU while throwing crumbs to the mass population. The min.pension is 230EUR (YES 230!). There isn't a single party in the parliament with the agenda to operate for the common bulgarian citizen. They're either pro-american or pro-russian. Corruption schemes get revealed here on a daily basis.
I love my country but there are many issues at hand which need to be sorted out and you need to be local to understand. Throwing some random statistics is all good and dandy but do not show the whole picture.

Now, after responding to all the newfags, here's the important part for /biz/nessmen.
You'll live better than in Western Europe if you want to peak as a software dev and do nothing for yourself.
And even if you want to build something yourself, you'll find it easier to save money in Bulgaria (unless you want venture capital, but trust me you don't).
Bulgaria definitely has lower crime than the rest of Europe if you're a wagie.
However, we have had a few instances of crypto people disappearing right after filing their taxes. That alone made me leave.
I've spent 25 years in Bulgaria, and about 3-4 months above. I've been robbed 3 times - in Milan, in Paris and in Berlin. Never in Bulgaria. You'll be perfectly safe there and have fewer issues than in Western Europe ... until you make it from crypto and suddenly have to declare that you have some spare $5m.
So while the people praising Bulgaria ITT were mostly right, and people hating were mostly morons, I wouldn't recommend the place.
