You'll still get a good health care and dental plan though which is why the UPS union is so based. Also package carriers aren't drug tested so if you're a degenerate you can still do meth or weed or whatever and make up to $80K in a year.

Yes. Word of advice it sucks physically though. Don't plan to make it a long term career even though the money is decent. It should only be a stepping stone to become a UPS driver or stacking cash to do something else to include a skilled job like programming. My current role now as a CDL B driver I make about the same as if I was working all that overtime at UPS but physically its only 90 percent of the effort. Why? Because not many people can or will drive a HAZMAT truck. Easy money in it though. The real reason is to start your own business within software development and that way you have a technical basis to evaluate your wagies performance and project management status. You don't need to get a BS in CS to do that though. Programming is a cheat code business in the sense that it provides near permissionless leverage to scale and is far easier to scale than meat space businesses like if you wanted to start a trucking company for example.

Nigger, I made about $85000 last year, plus about $15,000 from rentals and side business. Due to fully funding my 401K (26,000 year after age 50) and both our traditional IRAs we paid zero tax state or federal. Tax benefits of rentals are great, you lose money on paper while gaining equity. Also use our residence as place of business so write off 20% of everything as a business expense. Bought a furnace and A/C unit this year. I can legitimately deduct part of it. Just saying tax rates can vary wildly based on ability to use every deduction in the tax code.

> i knew a guy who got driver position after about 8 months, just because they were short on drivers at the moment

No shit thats just how it works almost anywhere you don't have to know anyone.
There's literally a sign up list everyone has access to. Average in my building is two years for 22.4 driving
then you still have to work for a few years to catch a RPCD. Openings come up once or twice a year
even though the lists will have like 40+ signups cause its a hard af job and new drivers usually quit.
Then you have to drive RPCD for years till you can get a good feeder(semi truck) bid unless you wanna take night/preload routes.

You won't have airconditioning ever. A guy just died this week from heat stroke. It doesn't matter even if your in Phoenix or Anchorage you'll be doing ~10hrs in everything pretty much no exceptions and no real breaks. They do not give a fuck its common on the inside to have people throw up during the summer from working in the trailers.

Then its just a straight up hard job. Worst I've seen is 250ish stops in one day no helper. Nonstop running unless you're driving.
Random underpaid handlers load your truck like dogshit before quitting after a few days. Complete gamble if its an unbelievable shitshow
when you walk in so you'll have to check every single package cause your the one respossible for their fuck ups i.e. if you miss a super tiny small hidden behind the clusterfuck that is a loaded truck you HAVE rerun your route and deliver it, even if you have multiple misloads. Good loaders are a godsend and drivers practically bribe them to stay on their trucks but are rare cause no one wants to wake up at 3am to work for minimum wage for only 20hrs a week.
TLDR; Unbelievable dumbfucks think its easy money. Don't bother unless you think roofing or the military are easy money too.

Only real tip; apply for package driver on the outside they hire a % of outside applicants WITHOUT having to be a loader.
