grayscale etfs are actually harmful to crypto pricing. They aren't 1-1 backed, meaning that if you buy 100 dollars of their bitcoin etf they don't buy 100 dollars of bitcoin to back it. What this means is that money that could otherwise have gotten direct exposure to bitcoin by purchasing some, instead gets something like 70% exposure by buying the etf.
Its similiar to the problem with paper silver, where they just print paper notes and people trade them as though they were physical silver but physical silver doesn't benefit from the price action. These types of financial products leach off the underlying asset and weaken them. In a way its inflationary because if grayscale isn't 1-1 backed then they're essentially printing new crypto with every sale of their product.

So, fuck them.
