You can currently get graded Morgan dollars of common years at MS63 or less quite inexpensively. MS64 is a sweet spot. MS65 and prices double 2.5 times an MS64. It can be cheaper doing these in person at your LCS rather than online but be ready to shop around.
If $40 is too much for you, don't bother and just stack metal for the metals sake. I have exactly two Morgan dollars. I'm strongly considering getting one more of a good grade if I can see it first for eye appeal.

do you own land? guns? a reliable vehicle?
do you have 6mo-1yr of food and water?
Is your wardrobe adequate? footwear? outerwear?
Do you have tools and skills to repair things (even if only in a minor capacity)?

If the answer to all these questions is yes, they I would put it all silver.
Personally, would split it like this:
(You said USD so I assume you are an American...)

-full rolls of 1964 US dimes
-full rolls of 1964 US quarters
-full rolls of 1964 US halves
-full rolls of sovereign 1oz coins (ASEs, Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, etc-- personally I would go with Krugs)

IMHO, here is no need to buy 10oz or kilo bars. It is just as easy to hand over a roll of quarters (7.234 oz ) or 10 1oz coins/rounds. Also, Morgans are highly collectable and therefore are not fungible, also they have don't scale properly with the US fractional ($1 Morgan = .7734 oz, $1 fractional = .7234 oz).

As for 90% silver, 1 merc = 2.50 fiat, 1 quarter = 5 fiat, 1 half dollar = 10 fiat. So stacking those for other things is like trying to make a large purchase in 1s. Nevermind that such a purchase would immediatly remove your divisible purchasing power. But no worries, Ive got rolls of those too.

That was and still is the hard part for me but its worth it in the end to save as much as you can. Fuckin hate banks but we had to look good for a loan so had to keep money in the bank. Still now that we own it putting money into it still hurts when I see it as money coming from my PM cash stash. It helps to put land and PM's in the same spot mentally for me at least. One of Pt's largest uses are in catalytic converters and hard drives. The auto industry is moving away from internal combustion engines (ICEs), so fewer catalytic converters will be needed. It's possible ICEs will no longer be sold in just a few years. In the meantime, there seems to be no significant new use for the stuff, so there's no reason for demand to grow. If Pt becomes useful in new inventions, well that's different but it's speculation.

Yep, fag confirmed.
Platinum hasn't been in production before the 1900s, and was discarded since it's melting point was too high for any furnace until then.
A toddler with a candlestick can melt gold. Which is why it has been mined along with silver forever.
Although in the earths crust, gold is slightly more rare, 3 parts per billion as opposed to 4 parts per billion for platinum, there is 30x times more gold in circulation.
