Yeah but most of the population aren't gymbros, probably 99% of the pop. For that majority of people if you look at the bmi chart and you're in the upper overweight or obese category (the vast majority of cases in the Western world) then it's a good wake up call to lose weight. If you're way under into the underweight BMI category then it's another kind of wakeup call that you might have some kind of issue going on. Personally my BMI when I started keto/intermittent fasting was 29.8 or something like that. I could look in the mirror and obviously see that I look like a fat piece of shit. No amount of "BMI is outdated" coping could have changed that. Right now I'm doing keto/IF, 30 minutes of elevated heart rate cardio with my gf every day and I'm doing body weight exercises dips, pullups, pisto squats, and weighted crunches so I won't look skinny fat when I get down to 175 pounds.
