What exactly is the so called premium on silver we keep hearing so much about?
The premium ice you pay above the paper spot price. The thing is, nobody you talk to on a daily basis is actually getting silver at spot. If anyone is getting it, it is far upstream from your silver purchase. The idea is eventually this low price will pass down to you, and then the premium is tacked on to that as the silver changes hands between miners and refiners, mints, dealers, and direct outlets.

But as we've seen in this past year, the spot price is a myth.
Refiners bought back from the markets to fill contracts.
Miners not selling at prices too low to cover costs.
The silver shortage at the US mint, later amended to just a silver blank shortage. (Notice that those Eagles have the highest, stickiest premiums.)
The premium is a part of the cost of actual silver. The spot price is a myth and ever increasing premiums are symptoms of its impending demise.

$28, a bit of a premium because it's bent in a coil but it's still 20 feet of copper. Haven't weighed it yet but feels heavy enough. Same store had MASSIVE 1 inch diameter copper pipes for $31 each, those things were at least ten feet long. In short if you want copper buy it at the hardware store or save pre-82 copper pennies, anything else is absolutely a ripoff.
Also not sure if I want to say where I live to reggie fag, I'll just keep it as "somewhere in south US"
>>50205305
Well for example a coin shop, pawn shop or scrapyard is generally going to pay spot price for the silver you sell. Sure things like eagles and proof sets will sell for more. But YOU, a normalfag generally aren't going to be buying silver without that extra cost above spot. Believe me, about every other /pmg/ thread either somebody asks how to buy silver at or below spot or somebody flips out because they bought some sterling under spot.

You know something? I genuinely forgot people sell silver. I just view it as money now.
The system as it stands can't afford the remonitization of silver. A monetized substance effectively has infinite demand placed upon it. I can't wrap my head around how that would work. The only outcome I see that I can understand for remonetized silver is one that also monetizes gold. That way there is still a way to buy silver to use as a chemical agent or material component.

Now THIS is a blessed outlook.
I think about how to remonetize precious metals a lot. The first, and most crucial rule it that it has to be SUPER illegal to take our coins over the border. Same charges as counterfeiting. And counterfeiters get death. Why? Because I damn well guarantee the rest of the world isn't going to convert to PMs at the same rate we would and those damned immigrants are just going to mail all of our much more valuable PM money to their own shitholes, bleeding us dry. Money CIRCULATES just like blood does. For a healthy body (state) it must flow within itself. If the money is debased/sullied, the nation is toxic (late Roman empire, Weimar Germany) If the money is only hoarded by the rich, a sudden and disastrous revolution will cause revolution just like how a clot causes a stroke (French revolution, Russian civil war) If the money is taken by everybody else and bled out, the nation slowly weakens (also late Roman empire, modern America)

I don't like goldbacks as way to stack Gold, but I DO like them as a concept for a silver/gold certificates that is more than just paper. Say I were absolute power next Monday, I would see if some form of goldbacks better suited to general circulation could be developed as a gold/silver certificate. These would be acceptable to take overseas, but could only be redeemed for actual coin by US citizens. It would also help "normalize" the good, but scary transition for normalfag retards that have only ever seen paper as money. They might like "shiny paper" better than "yellow/green paper" even, they could feel richer.

Fiat currency is the greatest scam in history.
First, tyrannical bank forces could blackmail nations with near-infinite money thanks to loans. But now, they can outright own a country with actually infinite money. Senator John Kennedy (I know, zogcuck but not the point) straight-up called Jerome Powell "The most powerful man in the country, maybe the world" in a recent senate meeting with the Fed about how to handle inflation. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2022/06/22/sen_john_kennedy_to_fed_chair_jerome_powell_inflation_is_hitting_my_people_so_hard_theyre_coughing_up_bones.html#!
You only work for your boss because he pays you money. You need money to eat, keep a house, buy clothing, pay taxes, and countless other things. Your boss is also ruled by money because he runs a business to make the same thing you want, money. So it's simple reasoning that he who owns the money is the master of control. And someone with nearly infinite "money" has nearly limitless control. It's that simple.

That's pretty good. There are other factors to consider.
- Pipe takes more volume, so stacking will require more space than ingots.
- Ingots are stamped, so the buyer should be assured of the content. The least expensive ingots I can find in the retail world are kilo bars going for about 15.65/lb (not including shipping, but $17.61 for three bars at a time).
- Copper chop is on sale at Rotometals for $11/lb, so that's even better if price is your guide.

2-8 hours per week, which includes browsing online, breakdown of scrap, and checking out thrift shops and estate sales when they occur which is where the ~8 hour weeks come from. I collect and resell general antiques collectibles tools/gadgets and old books too so I'm rarely left empty-handed having wasted the time. I enjoy novelty and seeing/learning about new (old) things so it's an extremely satisfying hobby. If you're not in Florida where retired boomer sale sharks abound you should check out www.estatesales.net for estates getting liquidated in your area, I got 2 kilos of silver at the last sale I went to for $133, $35 of gold scrap for $20, plus 20+lbs of petrified wood, a grooved stone Indian war hammer, and some great old books tools and valuable pocket knives I got for $5 and flipped for $200. It's not for everyone but if you have a good eye and the right mental wiring I highly recommend trying it out. It sounds it. Not in Florida where America's junk collects. My area seems to have a higher average density of thrifters as I don't often see anything out. It's also liberal enough that more than a few shops shuttered after 2020 and the ones left are picked over.
Estate sales though, there's something I might venture into. There's no shortage of people dying in my area.
How much cash do you bring with you on any given outing? 500? 2k? What's the most you spent at one spot?

Weight doesn't matter when its pipe utility adds additional value. Avoid going to a big fancy warehouse store to buy it because those places are always the most expensive. Go to a Paki merchant as their prices are way more competitive.

>How much cash do you bring with you on any given outing?

Unless you're in the market for antique furniture and riding lawnmowers ~500 should be more than enough, these days lots of estate sales also take credit/debit payments but if not you can always have them hold a pile for you at the cashier table if you are short cash and need to run to the bank. I've done pretty well at thrift stores but the best source for cheapies is definitely estate sales, you want to be there right when they open 1st day for the best chance at finding deals, but they are often worth going back to on the 2nd or 3rd day when everything is 25-50% off. Good luck!

Yep early birds get most of the shiny worms but you can still find things on the 2nd or 3rd day, I got this ~280g Tiffany sterling plate half off for just $1 at a sale last year, wish I knew about it before the afternoon of the second day because I probably missed some good stuff. That $25 sterling jewelry box had a wood liner but I removed it, weighs 265g and is a nice thick gauge piece very appropriate for holding treasures, every stacker should own something like it. Anyway good luck hunting down some sweet deals, keep that estate sale site bookmarked and check it weekly, I'll be rooting for you and waiting for pictures of your scores!

premium for silver is also because there is a transaction cost in dealing with small amounts of silver. Especially stores don't want to spend 10 minutes making a deal for silver where the profit is only a few bucks. they have to pay wages and a lease and single ounce silver coins are basically zero profit

You are a dimwit. The economy is a wave, and its going to be faster waves than usual

>Economy bounces faster than expected from lockdown
>Supply shortage
>Inflation goes up
>Fed panics
>Starts aggressively tightening financial conditions
>People now struggling with both inflation and rising mortgage rates are pushed into recession
>Fundies also deleveraging at the same time
>Quick market crash
>Dollar milkshake is also happening
>Reverse wealth effect
>Commodity prices finally fall
Phase 2 begins
>People seeing the feds reaction worked well
>Equity markets pleased it works, begin to rally again (happening now)
>Fed begins to chill out
>Real relief rally begins
>Economy healing again now inflation has moderated
>meanwhile many new third world countries are now experiencing hyperinflation, but it doesn't affect US
>Activity picks up
>Inflation rapidly picks up again
>Fed hikes more
>Dollar milkshake overdrive
>US gov debt interest start getting very expensive
>Borrow more money
>Bond holders lose faith in the government
>Yields start rising incredibly fast
>Non US First world countries now experiencing severe currency haemorrhage
>Fed has lost control of interest rates, rates are hiking themselves
>Severe recession
>All world fiat currencies have collapsed into the USD
>Fed has no choice but to QE 6
>They're now pushing over the final domino (USD)
>Commodities now in full send
>Shit hits the fan

I like copper rounds for high premium silver mints, but the premium is ridiculous on them. Also I sort of want one of these cube blocks as a desk ornament.
