I just finished my application for a big finance company (and got accepted). I had a 2 year gap between HS and uni, and then failed my first year of uni. Also took almost 8 years finishing uni and I'm 6 years older than their average graduate hires.
To my surprise nobody gave a fuck and they even saw my failed year as a positive because I spun it into "I learned a lot about myself through failure".

Turn that two years into just one year. One easy way to do this is DO NOT include the specific month you left your job. Let's say you left your job in late 2020, instead turn that into 2021 and don't specify the month, could have been December for all they know.
