Zinc and Tin are two under appreciated metals that will have critical impacts when we start to see real supply problems. Tin is in all tech solder, and unless more tin is sourced, more silver will need to go into solder to compensate for tin scarcity. That will have a run on effect on consumer tech. Zinc is needed for EV batteries and many different sectors, we have loads of zinc in the ground, but new mines are taking to long to bring into production, meaning need will outpace production quick. Once that happens we will have serious issues.

>You guys are the first to complain about infinite money printing, but do you realize that they can indefinitely short metals with infinite money printing?

While I will admit I'm not an expert in finance & market manipulation, I do think you should consider this hypothetical situation. Your argument is correct if the IMF has a total monopoly over every nation in the world. Currently it has 190 out of 195 nations & if you consider banks like JP Morgan Chase holding 90% of precious metals through derivatives if can indeed put short selling into a loop to make sure US fiat dollar doesn't crash & everyone losing faith in it.

However, BRICS is now being seen as a competitor to the IMF (located in Washington) which is backed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, South America as well as new comers Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia & Chile. Just those alone is over half of the world's population with Russia, China as well as India's private sector holding massive amounts of gold & that isn't accounting for the gold in the ground.

The point I'm making is that this already rivals the west right now in terms of economic productivity & market outside of the west & that's even without a hard boarder. With how much increasing debt the west is getting in, nations leaving the IMF for BRICS (& thus never paying off their loans), black markets selling western gold to the east as well as current base & rare earths being confined to the BRICS ecosystem & market place, eventually faith in US dollar fiat will collapse. No doubt the US government will pass legislation to confiscate people's precious metals again, but after last time the people will put their gold into the BRICS system through black markets. I honestly feel western leaders have bitten more off they can chew with their game of empire over these past few decades, & when the people no longer support the elite's ambition through fiat, gold confiscation or domestic force, the scarcity of PM's will moon.

Floy lily taught me qlot about Sdrs and the coming system revolving around that. I should sit down and write out how it works but honestly the central banking system is so convoluted and sprawling that it's difficult to capture a brief summary when much of the rules, oversight, and accountability are disregarded, manipulated, or outright falsified entirely.

>Is it good, if i make a monthly target of 100 grams per month, or I should up it?
>What would be average hold period? Am I looking 5, 10, 20 years for profit return?
>Why is 1oz coin = 31 grams, more expensive then 100 gram bullions?
>Is this equal to your Britania coins?

>Some other advices would be good too, thank you in advance.
>If i succeed to reach 2-3 kilos for the next 3 years of silver stacking, this would be good?
>Also tell me, if inflation goes drastically up these next months, should i just buy 2-3 kilograms right away?
I am working for 8 years alread, got some savings, i have some crypto, in which i am at a huge loss, but i won't sell it. I mean, i don't want my hard earned wage slaving money to just go into thin air, i've put so much stress and nerves.

>Why wouldn't the black market simply take gold as payment? Why would gold owners want to trade their wealth for yet another fiat system like brics?

As I already explained, when the western governments try to confiscate people's gold (not just petty collections, I'm also talking about big stacks of gold and possibly silver), the people trapped in these western systems will use black markets to stop this store of wealth being taken from us with BRICS being a safe alternative. If you think about it, Russia, and particularly China will want to have that control. The US government would have a massive shit fit if people traded Yuan on their own soil instead of the US dollar because by then the Yuan would be seen as the world currency while the US dollar will be seen as worthless like Venezuela money. You've got to remember we're in a digital age with crypto technology to avoid domestic auditing so you don't even need the precious metals on you and the black market will do whatever it needs to get what it wants. There's only so much paper a government can IOU to its institution employees before they say fuck it its useless.

>>50111952

Let me talk plainly with an example. Say you've got 10kg of gold from your big business or movie career. You don't want to move out of the west but don't want your wealth being confiscated from the government. You move it to a BRICS storage bank so the US government can't get it. You then create trade around you using the Yuan through crypto such as day to day food, security and business. There will be people in America who will come to you for a stable form of living. Government could try to pass laws to scare people away from doing this, but if millions of Americans end up doing it and the government has no real resources to force people, well it's over for them and then you can bring your gold holdings back to you. The way you're seeing it is along petty collections of precious metals. Trade after the collapse won't be like that, you will get city states popping up that will act like kingdoms because it is in human nature to build stable societies. The situation will be no different than today's countries with failed currency using the US dollar for trade.

if its a bar with no numismatic value, it should be okay to remove any protective sleeves without too much of an issue. just realize the silver will tarnish when exposed to sulfur in the air.
if you want to keep it shiny, leave in plastic, if you dont care, it doesnt matter silver is silver. i would keep gov issue coins inside capsules or tubes.

how much you buy depends on what you make.. 100 grams every month seems low to me but i make 100k usd a year and can afford a little more than that. you dont ever wsnt to be in a situation where you have to sell at loss to buy food or pay bills. nobody knows how long it will tske for silver price to move up. its currently fslling due to strengthening dollar. at minimum you will tie your money up in not so liquid metal for at least a few years, if not decades. most stackinghere realize this prospect and plan to stack something to leave to their kids.

1 ozt coins cost more than heavier bars becsuse theyre already divisible so more liquid and tradeable so you pay a little more for that 'convenience' and buying in bulk always a little cheaper. that being said, if you like bars, 100 grams seems like a nice denomination to stack. not too large, but cheaper than 1 ozt. britannias are 1 ozt. i do like britannias and recommend stacking them if you find at a reasonale price. i am american btw

It costs more because of convenience.
If you're casting anything that would be used like a spoon use Sterling or it will wear. Shot makes it easy to proportion metal ratios.
If you want to melt bars, you can buy Sterling bars and use those for casting. They're generally cheaper.
The melt videos I've seen had people cutting rounds or one ounce bars (and in one case an ASE) likely because they're thinner and easier to cut they also weren't making anything that large.
Also, check.

Your LCS may have some to offload. They were often made by railroad companies and other firms in the midcentury. Apmex carries them, though you might get gold plated in the mix. Golden eagle coin does too but they only sell 100 oz lots.
You can try the various pm exchanges to see if anyone has Sterling to part with. If you're just making a few small melts just get a few ounces. The usual price is around that of generic three nines rounds or perhaps a little less.

That takes effort, the "practically no effort" listings for example are ones like this for solid flatware where the "sterling" marks are clear and the weight is given (7.1oz here): https://www.ebay.com/itm/384958858156

Remember that unless specified as Troy the ounces are avoirdupois. $120 melt value for under $80 total, you just populate a bid sniping service (I use www.gixen.com) with stuff like this and let it all ride. Scrap usually sells for less than melt value so if you're getting it for melting/casting instead of refining you can pay more than the competition and still get a good discount compared to fresh sterling from a jewelry supply company.

Happy to help, and you're right about those vintage 1970s sterling Franklin Mint art/collector bars being a good source too. Most aren't anything better than scrap so at worst you can go to a LCS and ask to buy what they have in their scrap bin for spot price.

Anyway here is a promising listing I was watching, a chonky centerpiece bowl worth about $377 melt, if not chopped up it would make a nice coin and treasure receptacle if it happens to end at under melt value.

Welcome to the club, fren. You're doing well. As other commenter said don't over extend yourself, but yes maybe dedicate a set amount per month. Where I am, metals purchased are taxed, unless it's $1500 USD in a single purchase, so I time my purchases to be where I can afford that much. You'll find a system that works for you.

You should get some small coinage too, I think, eventually. Even old 90% purity coinage, not bullion 99.9+% coins, is good. It feels nice to clink them around in your hands. When my investment portfolio is low, I do that, and then I instantly feel better, and do not care what the numbers on the screen say.

They can't though. There will be a time where the metal is simply not there anymore, and with growing industry demand you cannot make a car battery with silver futures. You need the rocks in your hand physically. That cannot be avoided. Once companies declare silver shortages, which is only a matter of time, paper holders will get nervous. Once they get nervous they want physical and realize paper is bullshit. Even if large swathes of paper is held by the very people looking to manipulate it, silver and gold being physical investments requires them to physically exist. Now don't get me wrong, this can take god knows how long. Maybe they can keep up the charade another 150 years, maybe 2 years, I have no idea. What I know for sure is that the charade WILL be exposed. That is simply unavoidable. They can kick the can and kick and kick and kick, but the road ends eventually.

It's sculpture and sculpture is hard. Most coins have faces in profile because face-on is hard to do. Most of the face information is in the depth of field, of which you get very little room to work with when sculpting relief.
Silhouettes and profiles on the other hand give you plenty of information with ease and are more forgiving on the light details just as the way the eye reads it.
Getting a pose on a coin is not impossible, but it is hard. And even if it is successful it might not read right depending upon the light or in photographs.

The best reading one of those is the 1916 coin, obviously, but the others are very readable if interpretations as opposed to high realism sculpts.
These days the level of detail you can make on a coin is fabulous. You start with a sculpt the size of a window and then scale it down until you get to the size you need to press into a given weight of metal. That's what mints do anyway. I figure that most rounds are made by digital sculpting. It can work well for somethings, but not others.
You can also see that a lot of the ancient sculpt is made in medium. Like the blobby faces and low detail. They read well in coin and were made in coin.
I don't know if they used scaling processes. So much of the ancient world impresses me that they may well have. But sculpting at size is just as impressive.

For junk, 80% in particular, I try for the same price as rounds or a little cheaper.
When spot price goes high, I shop around for fixed price coins I'm interested in that I can't justify when spot is low and buy the nice comems instead. These are coins that for whatever reason the coin shops don't price fix relative to spot and so get cheaper relative to other silver products at time of purchase. I'm still paying the same price, but I can talk myself into it more easily.
My last purchase of 80% quarters came to about 25 - 26/ozt, not counting a fluke of a good ebay find.
Meanwhile I bought 2022 ASEs at the start of the year just because I feel I have to. Paid 32. Bought some peace dollars at the same time and those were cheaper.

It's not the same as buying retail coins or bullion but my 2022 average is under $9/ozt ASW, maybe under 8 thanks to some superb dirt-cheapies scored lately. Once returned from the refinery the .999+ artisanal handpours can easily sell for $30-35/ozt. I figure that if I'm going to be a retarded boomer rock collector I'll do it in a way that ensures a decent ROI even when spot price is in the toilet and which avoids the eternal jew and his exorbitant premiums.

Silver is more of a hobby now. But one that I assume in a few years will pay off. It’s satisfying to own and hold. More tangible etc. I assume I’ll be able to break even with what I bought.. as in Spot will catch up to the premiums in the next couple of years and since I’m planning on holding longer then it’ll be worth more. Maybe I'm just being schizo but doesn't the 20% VAT on silver seem awfully suspicious? It looks like much of the world preferences gold ownership while punishing or seriously discouraging silver ownership. The same entities that push race mixing, LGBTQ propaganda and all flavors of degeneracy and corrosive historical materialist critical theory want you to own gold but not silver. Superficially yeah, gold looks like a better deal because it isn't taxed and premiums are lower but that appearance is all contrived and smells off to me. With respect to the disparity I simply don't believe that governments are selflessly and generously shepherding their citizens into the objectively best investment assets while assiduously protecting them from risky ones.

Oh yeah absolutely, pic related is some keepers that were handy, all worth more than melt and pieces like the fancy repoussé floral tea ball are worth a tidy little bundle. I polished the hand hammered sugar and creamer set recently, it gives a good contrast against the old unpolished stuff. Need to find my jewelry dip to clean up the sterling chainmail purse I bet it'll look awesome.

Yeah fellas, it smells fishy and is certainly for the purpose of suppressing the recognition or appeal of the monetary aspect of silver. I can only guess about the specific reasons why but the taxation scheme has Shlomo's greasy fingerprints all over it.

Holy shit. My mother had one of these, I used to play with it as a kid. The “snap” on the closures mechanism was really satisfying. Fairly certain hers wasn’t real gold thou. The mesh was more like a tea strainer. We used to keep random coins in it. I’ll ask if she still has it as even if it’s only worth spot, if it was gold it’s worth considerably more than what it was worth in 1982.

Krugerrands cost 30% above spot here, is that okay? Britannias are just 20% premium, should i stack them instead? European if that matters.

Complete misunderstanding of the "store of value" concept.

An average house today is on the order of 20,000 oz of silver. In 2040, if silver is a store of value, it will be worth (roughly) 1/20,000 of however much a house is. It will still take a bunch of silver to own a house, your 1oz meme round will be worth a couple of meals at McDonald's, same as today.

>> No.50122625

not exactly true. In times of fiat credit expansion housing prices rise faster than precious metals. During currency crisis when your local currency becomes worthless, real estate values collapse relative to gold.

Still, it won't go to nothing. In venezuela when things were really rough you could get BIG homes for 7000USD. More than tree ounces. But, if you buy before currency crisis during the time of fiat credit expansion, you could be paying upward of 400oz of gold equivalent in your local currency for a decent house.

I think more people need to understand this; with inflation cash goes down in value and everything else (including silver) becomes more expensive.

A house that costs 100k USD or 4k oz silver will cost 300k USD in the future because of inflation but still will only be 4k oz silver.

High altitude Wyoming so it's too cold for much besides root vegetables and short season greens, peas did fine too. Tried growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers etc the first year here, it was very disappointing and the tomatoes only ripened *after* a hard frost in early September killed all the plants lol.

I've had great yields of big tubers from Pontiac Red potatoes, they're pretty forgiving and grow successfully from Florida to Canada. I believe they're an indeterminate variety that does well with the vertical growing method you're probably considering.
