NPCs in front of the ship are automatically hostile to alliance players and can basically instakill you at these levels, but also, horde players can always pk you as alliance (and vice versa), so we had to make use of physical sneaking and the environment to hide until the players left the ship, then rush out and run for our lives. We just went stalking around for fun in the undead land this way. It was a rush.
One time a player managed to attract a boss from its dungeon all the way to a city, which wreaked havoc. Everyone who played around that time, even those who weren't in the area, fondly recalls this event.
One time, some dwarf noob got saved by a higher level player. He had been drinking beer and so thanked his savior in local chat thus: "thanksh for shaving me", because the drunk status modifies speech that way. Hilarity ensued.

The average person thinks that hyperinflation is coming and raising interest rates to 20% is the only way to fix it. The truth is that the exact opposite is happening: we're heading into a deflationary spiral. Once people realize that inflation is plummeting they will FOMO into the market thinking the economy is saved. When wow started, it changed the MMO landscape for the worse, and MMOs never recovered as everyone tried to copy wow without understanding what made wow fun (it was basically fun in spite of its casual on-rails format, not because of it). Then wow fucked everything up with autopartys and auto-tp to dungeons and hardcore casualization that ensured you could solo to max level in a few days. OSRS is old-school in name only due to all the nuRS changes they keep porting over. The best MMO experiences available now are from pservs only. OSRS is still about as good as 'official' experiences go nowadays, sadly.
The real RS was a pretty great MMO all in all. Other great titles included UO, SWG, tricksters, Wakfu, Dofus, Mabinogi, pre-hero maplestory, tibia, and more. Most of these wowified and died (or zombie'd), while some just died for other reasons (usually mismanagement upstream).
