You're misunderstanding the situation, due to free money for a decade the market is incredibly fragile to disruptions. A combination of said disruptions along with free money finally going away means we're going to see an implosion due to the fragility finally causing non-linear ripple effects. A lot of companies hold stock as assets which compounds the issue.
The Fed more or less leveraged the entire market, and now we're seeing the results. We're no longer in the realm of statically reasonable actions
