Add in global adoption of smart contracts on top of that. By 2030 most of these white collar jobs won't even exist any more. 50% of current employment is just adult daycare to keep people consooming anyway, what happens when smart contracts do 90% of what's left.

If you're a smart white collar wagie, it won't matter. I got into software dev 3 years ago, about 65% just for the money, and am now WFH wagie at $111k base (+$9.5k matched/"employer contributed" ann., plus stock equity). And with the situation being 65% for the money, I also have been continuing my cheap, minimalist lifestyle, since, and have saved 71% of my post tax income, on average, since I started dev, with a large amount of income also deposited to tax differed or exempt accounts.

And so even if I was to be laid off tomorrow, I would still have already stacked a decent bank, in only 3 years. Plus, I have large amounts in cash, from my WFH wagie job, as I moved 50% stock holdings into USD and 100% BTC into USDT, before the markets crashed. -45% S&P dip? +122% on move up to price before dip. You can also short, but I don't play with leverage much anymore.

Once you grow your stack big enough, wagie worries don't matter, as you can live off passive growth, and if you have played (and still can play) your hand right, there is still plenty of wealth to be made on the way down.

Wagies work redundant positions, acting as a, and in, a performance art, and by having people at their jobs like them. The jobs produce superfluous products for braindead consoomers, obsessed with BRAND and LATEST MODEL.

The workers work for the ultra rich, the Bezos and Zuckerberg. They make profit by consoomers consooming. The consoomers get their money from working jobs provided by the same ultra rich. The corporations are also diligently succeeding in removing individual and community rights. In addition, the internet has hyper individualized and escapized normality and we are on the path to become perfect consoomers, from it.

So, the ultra rich pay the WFH wagies. The WFH wagies then buy the products produced by the same ultra rich and corporations they work for. The ultra rich grow stronger. The internet and surveillance grow more encompassing. Our historical data and analytical abilities of it grow exponentially. Ultimately, its a con game. But if you stack your high income big and fast, instead of consooming it, then you can bail after a short while, and a least get to exit the wagie/consoomer cyclical loop earlier.

The jobs are needed, even if the jobs are a farce, as they need to pay people, so those people can buy their products, so those paying can get richer. Its like a pyramid scheme. Wagie life is not enslaved to GDP. It is the GDP.

I'm confident I could pivot into practically any field I want no matter what happens to society since I skillmaxxed simply because it's fun to do. I'm saying this to set up the fact that I really don't care if his prediction is true or not. It does not matter to me.

Having said all that, I think he's both right and wrong. We'll see the death of useless workers who were warming seats and pushing emails around. There will be a short term excess of white collar labor with that flood, but the skilled will still be in demand and wages will be forced up in that market so long as living expenses continue to rise. The ones who can't make it won't stay in the same market, and will push down wages in the unskilled market instead.

Working an IT architect in a consulting business. We have our core products that we offer and we do quite well. But the real problem is the sales staff who get ideas. They are backed up by management who get greedy over seeing potential sale numbers.
The sales staff attach probability numbers to the chance of success of around 5-10% etc (meaning there is no fucking way this will be sold). It forces all supporting staff (i.e. me) to spin our wheels over fucking nothing.
Even if the idea is sold to the customer, there is no fucking way we can support or deploy it for them, resulting in more busy work and lost revenue from trying to put a square peg in a round hole. The contracts fall over and we've then burnt around $200-$300k of staff time on it.

Majority of these staff members can be sacked, it will have a downflow effect to knock out more staff because there isn't so much bullshit work coming through the door. The middle management is fucking retarded and don't add up all the lost time due to these shit sales staff. He doesn't get it.
Clearly he's a very intelligent investor, but he doesn't understand that many jobs including most office jobs are SUPPOSED to be pointless.
Capitalists' prerogative is to raise their profits. One can do that by increasing revenues or by reducing costs. The major cost in most industries is labour. There are many ways of reducing labour costs, e.g. by automation or by moving jobs to lower-income countries where wages are lower, but the overall effect is that a lower proportion of total revenue in a company goes to its workers. This creates a new problem: if the working class (I'm defining working class as those whose income depends on their labour instead of ownership of capital) who make up the majority of people in society, are forever getting poorer then who is going to be able to afford to paid the goods and services that companies produce?
The solution thus far has been to create new jobs where old jobs were lost. These jobs are often stupid, pointless bureaucratic roles that do basically nothing. Of course those office admin jobs are redundant and could be eliminated: their redundancy is the point. These jobs are a version of universal basic income which require going to an office building and pretending to work for 40 hours a week.
I've worked pointless office jobs, I bothered to do probably about an hour of work a day, and yet my managers praised my work ethic. These jobs won't be eliminated because they can't be. Capitalism /needs/ these jobs, or no one would be able to afford the commodities capitalism produces.

i've been in corporate accounting/corporate finance at large, publicly traded companies for about 5 years. they'll pay someone to refresh that data every day and be held accountable for its analysis. shit like this happens all the time. it's all about momentum. you pay some senior analyst wagie to run a daily or monthly analysis and speak to its results, no problem. you want to start talking to SaaS vendors for some piece of shit software that isn't very customizable, isn't very auditable, isn't very flexible, doesn't allow you to easily drill into the details, etc. then it's a big deal that takes sometimes years of planning and implementation -- and the end result is ALWAYS fucking horrible despite the $7 million in implementation costs and the $50k/mo. perpetual SaaS contract.

techniggers seem to forget that """"automation"""" isn't new. what do you think ERP systems are? they've been around for literally decades and they're ALWAYS a fucking disaster at every company i've ever worked for. the company i'm at now has literally 4 different SAP implementations running concurrently and they're all fucking garbage. we have internal SAP developers and big money SAP consultants from deloitte on payroll and it's still pure trash.

fairly enough. like i said, low hanging fruit jobs like data entry or lower tier staff analyst work can be automated. anything beyond that won't be automated because directors/VPs/executives want agile and responsive departments with people who can run ad-hoc analyses and be held accountable for results. some aspects of automation tools will make their lives easier but real life follows Parkinson's Law almost exactly: work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion.

a good example is public accounting / audit. many audit firms are now using internally developed analytics tools to reduce the amount of manual labor (substantive testing selections) they do. does it save any time? no. in fact, it creates more work because now you dig deeper into the details and spend a massive amount of time writing documentation to support your narrative.

>> No.50068851

For the vast majority of workers, that haven't seen a huge shift in demand for labour, even if they fell for the 'going above and beyond meme', they're getting a single digit raise, amidst double digit inflation. So workers are already taking paycuts. It would be different if they were still at their 1-2% per year 'target', I'd expect the layoffs to happen sooner.

>you'll have to be a cashier
Those kind of jobs are being automated away already. Even more disturbing is how they're actually using third worlders with a screen and web cam to be able to outsource the ones that can't be automated.

Burry is right in that with a recession companies will trim the fat. But they always go for the obvious stuff first. It means goodbye consultants. Goodbye 'diversity and inclusion' officers. Don't plan to keep growing during the recession? Time to lay off recruiters. Division not turning a profit? Time for them all to go. Oh look, our 'head count' is so much lower now, we don't need as many 'admin' jobs or even HR anymore, time to cut those too. If you're actually in a part of the business that is making money, even if you're WFH, chances are you'll be fine.

They can't force you to do anything. The point of a dead man's switch is that it activates if you don't do anything. You're not "using," you're just letting them know that they need you, actually.

Also of course you disguise it as something else. "There's an issue with the library we use so I set it up so that I have to manually do Thing or else it blows up. If I didn't set it up that way there's a chance it could have blow up silently. Installing concrete is much more then just pouring, you got a robot that will dig out the ground, compact/level the sub base, do the forming, lay the rebar and work the concrete as it is being poured and then stamp it or brush it for the finish?

You are the retard, you think your faggot job staring at a computer all day can’t be automated? Lol, Chainlink btfo most office niggers. Big industries like insurance will be disrupted, accountants gone, anything that is data entry is fucked. Off chain data fed into smartcontracts that are programmed to execute certain functions based on the info that comes in, this is exactly what most white collar niggers are they just are robots that get input and based in the input execute a particular output action. You will be replaced. White collar is going to be the most disrupted sector of the 4th industrial revolution

one of the central problems in software is that the power, autonomy and pay of being a software engineer have attracted a huge share of narcissists and sociopaths who are terrible with computers, but use narcissistic social strategies to stay in their role
nothing is a more worthless bullshit job than software engineer
if times get genuinely tight, all management has to do is tell all the clients or customers or users asking for new features and bug fixes to fuck off for a year
then they can safely fire the 80% deadweight in their software departments
much of the cycle of software development is devs updating their software for compatibility with updates in third-party software packages, which were themselves pushed out to handle updates in the third-party packages' dependencies
you can't stop this cycle of retardation in a bull market, but a bear market conveniently incentivizes all developers to stop pushing out bullshit at the same time, and there go all the jobs

Oh no, some simp for bug people called me a retard. China's demography is fucked. Anyone with a brain can see that. I've worked with Chinks in software. Paper tiger. Zero creativity in situations they haven't seen before. To make matters worse they have the same problem as Pajeets, they just can't say 'I don't understand' and just nod. They're a slave race that's good for making cheap shit. You expect quality or just for them to give a shit? Too bad.

I am blue collar ubermensch. Robots are afraid of me for being cheaper and as efficient as them with my self made tools while hardly doing anything whole day and mostly drinking coffee. White collars are afraid of me since I fix their bad floating point math with angle grinder. Accountants are afraid of me for earning more than them despite not having a diploma.
