reminder that jews are now building 5 story apartment complexes entirely out of wood, marketing them as luxury apartments, and charging $2200 a month for 600 square feet. these buildings will all collapse within 2 or 3 decades, by which time the developer will have sold it to some retard boomer-tier REIT group. it's a commieblock but worse, because at least commieblocks are still standing 3 decades after the fall of the soviet union.

I honestly can't tell if these threads are made by trolls or honest retards. The boards you monkeys are eeking and ooking over don't support the building, the actual framing timbers do. The boards don't even make up the most important parts of the building envelope. They are there to give something to back insulation against before facing with wall board. I swear that not only is everyone on this board underage, they also came from single mother homes, since none of them have any idea of what is in the walls where they live. Do you retards also think that stone faced buildings aren't using lumber internally as a support?

>>50031146

He thinks that he sounds smart, saying that the joos won't let you buy the good, sturdy trees for your house, neglecting that no one but rich people were building their wood framed homes from cedar and old growth oak centuries ago. Also, you're not supposed to take out a mortgage on your own house. Just buy the land first and take it step by step. You don't need the money all at once and you should be able to make couple hundred dollars in 3-5 years to finish your project. You're brainwashed by NA home building practices. You can easily, trivially do all the support for a building with masonry and steel.

In the article they mention how it can sometimes be associated with gentrification but often has the effect of keeping house prices down... I wonder why?

What is this fucking bullshit I read?

Obviously people don't understand the basic principals of building materials or construction practices/ technology.

If you don't know something then STFU. Timber performs better than steel in fire. FACT

Timber performs better than brick and concrete in Earthquake FACT

Engineered wood products (glued) is not cheap material and has been designed to be stronger than solid timber. FACT.

Bunch of low IQ faggots here.

yes rabbi, i'm sure.

>> No.50046844

Yes, I am sure and so is the whole structural engineering profession and all the supporting academic and professional body independent lab testing is also sure.

Not sure if your fucking luke warm IQ can understand that timber naturally chars and forms a insulation around itself. Where steel melts and loses its strength exponentially when exposed to heat. That's why they require a intumescent paint....

go fucking look up the causes of all the steel building collapses in the city. fucking dumb ass

Steel beams do not reach temperatures in building fires to turn into liquid.

But they do get hot enough to warp and deform them.

There are other building collapses besides the twin towers you degen.

>> No.50047232

Wood is primarily only strong in one direction (look at the grains).

By gluing wood in a way where the grains can run in multiple directions you have an element that can resists shear and tension forces in multiple directions.

Look at the panel locations, they are used as bracing. the main studs are still solid timber and beams would not be OSB. the floor acts as a diaphragm so again grains running in multiple directions gives better strengths over all.

By using the OSB for the cladding, you essentially adopting more than enough bracing, there is so much redundancy there.

But I'm sure you can explain it better why it is crap using your extensive structural engineering knowlegde. fuck tard

There is some truth to this statement, but its all the bong ripping hippy architects driving everything to wood frame due to low carbon footprint. I'm not blaming architects entirely, but you're dirty as fuck on this and you know it.

Wood is actually a very good building material. Very high strength to weight; easy to work with cut and modify. Will last 100+ years if built right / kept dry.

People who shit on OSB and the same people who shit on drywall. OSB is superior to plywood in many ways due to its dimensional accuracy and resistance to bowing in the field if not installed promptly.

Attached is picture of a R30 insulated timber framed wall. You don't want to know how hard R30 is to achieve with brick / concrete / europoor building method. Plus a timber framed house is MUCH, MUCH easier to renovate / move outlets / remodel than a concrete house.

Those Los Angeles 5+1 houses are a seismically safe (Cali has strictest seismic building codes in the world - look it up) due to the flexural stability of timber over concrete. Sprinkler systems do a pretty damn good job of keeping wood framed apartments safe. A concrete apartment block catching fire will not burn down but it sure as fuck will evacuate the entire block for a long time during the rennovation.
