Ukraine has already conceded most key regions and have lost like 90% of their material ability to support themselves. Literally every hero story has been completely false propaganda: The ghost of Kyiv (Ukraine gov admits was made up), snake island (Ukraine gov admits they surrendered), Zelensky on the frontline in body armor (photos from a year ago), muh captured border flag (was literally 3 guys who snuck through the woods lol), etc. And Russia hasn't even tried to tax their reserves. Ukraine is getting absolutely fucking wrecked and Europe is completely cucked to them on energy and commodities. BUT BEN STILLER VISITED THEM AND POSED WITH ZELENSKY!!! When George Soros agrees with George Bush agrees with Bill Clinton agrees with Jacob Rothschild agrees with Adam Kinzinger, agrees with Barack agrees with etc... agrees with the collective of western media outlets with rigid, complete intolerance for even superficial criticism challenging warmongering, and all of the same retards who put BLM in their bio are putting Ukraine flags along with the neocons, consider vetting the story for more than a collective outside hour not including Newsguard TM sources. They have lost major locations multiple times in the last 2 weeks alone, but cover the story of retreat as "leaving." Hence the headlines about "maybe needing to cede the contested land to Russia for resolution."
>Can't buy dollars
You just showed everyone in the world how you don't understand what SWIFT financial messaging is or how the eurodollar system works in general.

Outside this, the sanctions had the opposite effect and lead to completely, inelastically dependent nations needing to take extra superficial steps to buy rubles to buy energy instead of dollars, or meet the gold agreement Russia set forth.

Are there some bots? Sure, there's bots in every thread on every chan in existence because that's the world we live in now. Hell I'll admit I've even fallen for it in making this reply, which I doubt you will even read. There's no real winners, just a lot of wasted time and resources and a ton of bloodshed and dead people and shattered dreams, lives, ruined land, lost resources, and backroom dealings that actually determine how things will shake out. The best you or I can do is sit back and watch it unfold, and appreciate the memes that come from it - I guess that's the real upside in any conflict anymore, state sponsored development of memes, which can sometimes be fucking hilarious. Me personally, I just want to fucking grill, and am incredibly assblasted that brisket is as expensive as it is and that I can't drive around enjoying the countryside as much as I used to. I feel like an idiot for getting tied up in the virtue signaling nonsense. I really just want to move the fuck on and get back to grilling, and it would be nice if people didn't have to keep dying on both sides of the conflict because war is and will always be old men having disagreements over which they send young men to kill each other and rape whoever can't get out of the way.

Which is why I said we are shifting (tapering) to a new reserve basis (note I never said the new standard would be the ruble or any sovereign fiat). In the meantime, what you are describing in Russia, is happening everywhere 100x worse, especially emerging markets. The global dollar shortage is squeezing the rest of the global economy. The US has high CPI but this isn't the same thing as monetary inflation. The dollar surging against virtually every other currency is a really bad sign for the global economy, and in the end, the dollar as well. The war in Russia is substantially (not entirely) to help manage this and transition from it. Literally all of Covid has been. This started to really rear its head in September 2019, was stifled, and then again, COINCIDENTALLY, in March 2020, but was completely understood as something that will happen.

the *reason* for the default isn't the same. in terms of *effect*, it absolutely is. check the credit default swaps and you'll find that russian debt is utterly uninsurable on global financial markets. it doesn't fucking matter why they are defaulting - nobody is willing to baghold russian debt, pushing yields sky high.

>And either way the ruble has, since the conflict began, performed better than any fiat currency in the world
you should read the releases by the russian central bank. the strong ruble is not something that russia wants, because it's a net exporter. they've been actively trying to bring down the strength of the ruble because it's hurting what remains of their exports and have failed so far. the russian central bank is very transparent about this. the ruble is also not gonna be a reserve currency any time soon, strength on paper or not. and it hasn't helped keep inflation in russia below 10% either.

>being "removed" from SWIFT amounts to them having to make a few more phone calls
this is so out-of-touch that i don't even know what to say. i'll let you put 1 and 1 together given that the currency conversion is strengthening the ruble, which isn't ideal for russia, and that everyone (including BRISC nations) prefers euros and dollars over monopoly money. why do you think they implemented the pay-in-ruble-decree? surely not to protect gazprombank from swift exclusion?

>They aren't unable to buy dollars or bankrupt, they are fundamentally making foreign creditors suck it, at least at face level.

You literally didn't rebut a single of my points. You just gave a hit minimum word count typed paragraph and avoided most of them still. On your first point you literally agreed with me that the meaning of the default was fundamentally not based in their inability to pay. On their ability to source dollars, my point is that you clearly have no idea how the decentralized eurodollar banking network works. They don't need to go through the fed. They don't need to use SWIFT (which is literally just financial messaging) to participate in the same network. They literally didn't lose an ounce of technical capacity they once had practically speaking. Them being an exporter in this eurodollar market is not relevant to them desiring the ruble strength, if so, why would they disallow purchase in euros/dollars and require purchase of oil in rubles? Literally makes no sense. On your last point, Russian economy is suffering. Guess what: EVERYWHERE IS. China is worse. South Korea is worse. Literally a dozen countries tripped 4/5 of the BIS's recession indicators. Everywhere is falling apart in the global dollar shortage, as I've said mutiple times. It is about relative rates wrt elsewhere. And the actions since Ukraine have only helped Russia. Literally none of your grand attempts at rebuttal even gleaned the central piece of the points you were meaning to address.

no it's not. it's certainly higher than ~8% but not even close to the russian number, which has also a lot of fuckery in its calculation. and in russia the inflation stems from direct shortage of important goods for households and the industry, which won't change in the short term. the western energy problems will start to resolve much sooner.

Worth saying as energy dependence asserts itself food is skyrocketing and will continue to do so. It is happening the worst in emerging economies, which are already seeing food riots (Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, etc..) Everything goes back to reliance of energy. Energy to heat or cool your homes is secondary to energy to produce and transport food. Some countries can't even but oil on credit anymore. These are the early VC companies of the dotcom bust in equivalence to food in the world. As the global dollar shortage squeezes the only big refuge for nations is energy and commodities.

i said the opposite: US (and european) energy problems will resolve much sooner than rebuilding the completely wrecked supply lines of russia. they import really a lot of stuff and so far most of it came from europe. yes, over time they can reestablish those supply lines using other sources in the east but this takes a lot of time, much more than rechanneling energy sources.

I am merely stating the official metrics vs. the new standard used in the US. My bad on the reply, I meant to quote you and also to express the same sentiment through it. How would they repair faster than a depleting SPR and total lack of production? The demand for oil (esp. in the US) is SUBSTANTIALLY more important than household goods. Meanwhile Russia is a predominant producer of wheat, fertilizer precursors, oil, etc. Who cares if they in the shortterm have contracted demand for household goods? They are working on new trade agreements with BRICS nations and in the shortterm unfolding I don't see it playing how you said. My actual position is that the two countries and whole world basically are coordinating to manage the monetary shift and are not trying to power struggle but if I took the global circumstance at face value, respectfully, I don't see how your position makes sense.

>> No.49981273

>>49981225
>They are working on new trade agreements with BRICS nations and in the shortterm unfolding I don't see it playing how you said.
that's not as easy as it seems. a lot of technology in the industry so far depended on parts produced in the west, they often now have to replace large parts of the production line in order to make the process compatible with a system produced domestically or in china. their railway system is a good example for this. there is also a lot of medicine tech that just can't be replaced because countries outside the west don't even compete on these markets.
and oil/gas production is globally not at its limits, OPEC can easily increase output if the west manages to build the infrastructure to take it.

>> No.49981431

>>49981273
But again, this all sounds like a lot of not immediately pressing things which can easily be navigated and present growth opportunity in the next phase of deglobalization. OPEC may be able to but they show no sign of intending to and they have no reason to stifle oil price swelling (again, from a face-level perspective), particularly when they are more dependent on Russia to feed their people than the US, particularly when we are literally already seeing food riots and at Arab Spring level prices. I am not saying there would not be challenged, I am saying in the end, energy would win out unless the US reverted to producing or ramped up nuclear. And energy/commodities would be the winner as the dollar milkshake played out punctuated/interrupted by Zoltan Poszar's Breton Woods III playing out, which would devastate the west and everyone who wanted to feed their citizens (read: retain power) would play ball with the intermediate phase of bilateral trade agreements as the world pivots from the Eurodollar. The US would have all the resources it would need to be self-sustainable but would have to completely restructure itself. Euro countries would have no choice and would gladly play ball with Russia--they are already cracking. Energy and commodity prices would spike which every BRICS country is either a massive producer of or has large stores of which would send their respective GDPs to the moon and the new paradigm would leave the church eurodollar in the lurch both as prospect and through necessity (you can't not eat). Again, I don't think this is the plan and I think only certain parts of this will play out (and the bad parts of political struggle only superficially and starvation etc. only in as far as good outcomes can be optimized) but I am speaking in terms of the world circumstance at face value. I think we are seeing the monetary shift following what Jeff Snider calls "Eurodollar #4." A lot more than that, but financially, in huge part that.

Damn. So many retarded westoids here.
EU industry says the EU is deindustrializing in realtime under the strain of high energy prices and Russia's "default" is that Russia is not allowed to pay with its own EU/US funds that the west stole, and they are so nice as to pay in Rubles so they can honor their commitments, despite the west not honoring theirs.

The west has no morality, nor do 80% of westerners.

International trade is done on a credit swap system to make things easier. You buy/sell x product and it's exchanged for a debt in the seller currency (or USD), it roughly evens out as buying and selling goes on between countries but if you default you can't do this and have to relay on fax machine methods and shit which makes the process much more annoying - not impossible, but nobody is going to want to deal with fax machines when they can just trade with someone else.

>Russia gains from not being allowed to pay back the dollar denominated debt.
Doubt it, it will most likely impact the interest rate Russia will pay for lending money in the future.
There is also the prospect of seizing Russian assets abroad.

The only possible way Russia stands to "gain" from this, is that it can have a significant negative impact on the US and the dollar as a reserve currency.
If Russia defaults on dollar denominated debt, it can't trade international using dollars, the foreign reserve ($) is frozen.. surely other countries will try to limit their dollar usage, and if enough countries do so, the dollar will seize to be the worlds reserve currency and be more akin to the Euro or Yen in terms of abroad usage.

>She makes passive aggressive remarks and actions
>Man does his own thing
>Woman decides to abstain from sex and get all her friends to publicly berate the man

The idea is that lenders wont lend to russia if they know Russia is incapable of paying back for ant reason.
But the thing is that lenders can see that the reason is the US deliberately denying them a client so long as they use the petrodollar. In practice there will be a negotiation in which lenders consider the paths of least resistance in finding profits, and the us may not like the results.
