It's possible to map a 1:1 function for information received to thought/action taken by a human and also possible to approximate a 1:1 function with AI to arbitrary precision. The conclusion is then obvious: it's not only possible for an ai to approximate human intelligence but to display behaviour that is, for all intents and purposes, identical to human intelligence. Even rudimentary chatbots have more to say than the average person I talk to. A personality so chalk full of marvel references and stolen jokes is quite literally a downgrade from a thinking ai. If you look up the google employee who said the model was sentient, you’ll find out that he has a computer science PHD and has published papers relating to AI. It doesn’t make sense for him to randomly spazz out unless he’s been abusing drugs recently. My theory is that he was high out of his mind when he sent those emails to his team and for whatever reason he doubled down when he got sober.
