NFTs are literally designed to TAKE money from artists. The mint prices vastly exceed the money the vast majority of artists make off of NFTs. That was the whole initial point of those publicity stunts where NFT marketplaces paid Beeple and Ben Mauro millions of $ for their NFTs. So it would make headlines and lead to hundreds of thousands of starving artists flooding their marketplaces in a new goldrush, making those marketplaces billions of $ in profit. The only artists who make money with NFTs are the ones who are popular enough that they get contacted for collaborations where the sale of their NFTs is guaranteed and acts as an advertizement to their followers on social media.

I don't think you get it. Nobody is buying NFTs organically. There is no market for NFTs where regular people are buying them off of their favorite artists. Every single NFT sale is a pre-mediated collaboration between an artist and an investor. If you are in that situation where you have a large enough social media following that investors reach out to you, then sure, go for it. But the vast majority of artists are not and won't make any money from NFTs.
