I cannot stand living with my parents, they're perma-boomers who don't respect privacy, can't cook, and argue with each other once a day because they try to have a conversation from opposite sides of the house.

With frugal living costs at about £300 a month and £800+ passive, I don't need to be a wagey, but I still work anyway since I genuinely enjoy it. More satisfying is that I can walk to work, so with zero increased costs from working I keep everything I earn.

Currently 37. Quite happy with my current life. Looking forward to the recession; hoping to pick up a second and maybe third place so I can eventually move out with comfort.

I feel zero shame in the currently economic climate. It's simply common sense. Those who live according to the needs of nature will be rich, those who live according to the opinions of others shall be poor.

I'm 30, live with parents, don't give a shit about what society wants from me, my parents love to have me around, my grand mother also lives with us. I save a ton o cash that i would waste on rent. Dating is harder when living with parents, but i don't want to marry and have kids, whenever i have urges i go with an escort, like once or twice a month, it's way cheaper than a wife, and i actually get two fucks a month, instead of 1 or 2 a year like most married dudes... Also i can choose the women i'm fucking, and never have to fuck the same women twice, i still return a couple of times if i really like one escort...

I'm 31 and have my own house. On the surface I'll tell someone to their face that "it's a tough economy" and they shouldn't feel ashamed for living with their parents over 25 years old.

Those percentages have definitely increased a good amount since then with covid, inflation, and more people doing wfh. The way housing prices and rent are now, I don't see anything wrong with moving back home assuming you're helping out your parents too and not being a freeloading neet.

Moved out at 19 after high school. Only lived with them a couple of months inbetween moving countries/universities. Currently among the top 10% earners where I live. I am 30 now and could never move back to my parents unless something extreme happens. Would rather not be saving anything than lose my independence and privacy.

Also if you live with your parents at age 30 you are an instant loser in my eyes and I wont respect you no matter what. The "save rent" argument is really only valid until you are in your mid 20s.

I’m 27 and moved back in with my parents recently after getting a WFH job. i have a gf who also lives with her parents and we go back and forth and get privacy so no problem with dating. i save a fuck ton of money and all my other friends say how jealous they are that i save on rent and can use extra money for investments and fun. only reason i don’t want to splurge for a house now besides the obvious market reasons is that I’m still young. I have that risk tolerance to where I should be throwing all my money into attempts to make it. Why blow potential investment capital on an expense that is, for now, unnecessary. i have a well-statured job, make six figs, and I’m charming and good looking/fit. nothing anyone says to me if negative would kill my confidence. anyone i meet who is an actual adult expresses agreement that living with family is the right move financially if you don’t have a family of your own and can logistically do if with your job.

Im 25, graduated uni, have $100k saved. No rent, no kids. Just spend my money on misc stuff. Stay at home mother cooks and the house is paid for. Houses are 600k in my city. My wage this year is 70k. I can’t justify buying a house because it’s way too much of my income. Renting is 2k for an apartment so 24k a year post tax to rent seems equally bad.

I’m a boomerang, lived on my own for 6 years and then moved back in with my parents after losing my job. I would like to move out again, but the money I’m saving is crazy so I think I might save for a house down payment. I could live on my own if I wanted to, but I don’t see the need now. I rushed into moving out at a young age so I never saved any real money.

I was renting in NYC until covid then moved back with parents. The few times ive gone back to the city its been shitty, they make you wear a mask and show a fake VAX pass everywhere you go.
