People forget that before the fed stomped down silver prices HARD, silver hit $49 an ounce in 2009 at the beginning of the recession. And those $49 were a lot more valuable in 2009 as well. Sure gas was expensive under Obama, but almost everything else was a lot cheaper even including the housing market that caused the crash to begin with. Just adjusting for inflation that'd be $66 according to inflation calculators. That wasn't even the all time high, Hunt Brothers trying to outjew the system brought it up to over $100 an ounce in the 80's. Silver can absolutely go up in a recession and we're absolutely entering one by every metric.

I’m UK, so I got them for about £2.20 ish each including postage. The quarter was £3.50 inc postage.

I just have to keep an eye outs for either free postage ones or larger lots. People selling them for like £5 each over here, it’s stupid. I have a small collection of the US stuff that I try to grab when it’s cheaper but you have to look for it or get lucky in a coin shop someone has just unloaded on.

Off hand I think I paid about £28 ish for my Morgan’s, £8/9 for kennedys or walking libertys.

In my personal opinion don't bother with silver as a way to get rich. Silver stackers are adamant it will but silvers history since the 1970's has been stable throughout. Gold on the other hand has just been going up and up since then. Lucky for you, you're just in time for the inflation train ride for gold which I personally recommend. Don't sell your silver thinking you made a bad choice, 37oz is really nothing and a modest collection to have as the ratio of silver to gold is around 82oz to 1oz of gold. Having smaller value currency will help you get day to day survival goods like bread and milk if there ever was armageddon (though personally if you're planning for that you may as well get a freezer chest and tins of food for the year). Overall you haven't made a bad hedge investment against fiat.
