These are the important questions

Can Ukraine even win?
What is Russia's end goal at the current time? (how much territory are they dead set on keeping)
Will Ukraine eventually make concessions?(giving up on Luhank/Donetsk and other Russian speaking areas for a ceasefire and conclusion to the war? while also declaring neutrality)
Will Europe bring back Russian gas even if the war ends with a favorable outcome for Russia?
Will Russia permanently shift to the east? are western sanctions going to continue for at least another generation?
Is this war going to drag on for another 10 years?

Putin will advance on Kiev and Zelenzsky will sign some bullshit surrender which essentially means Ukraine becomes a puppet state and leaves the country.

Putin can not accept Ukraine without his own puppet in charge. If he leaves them sovereign then a couple years down the line it would have patriot missile defence, ballistic missiles capable of hitting russia and a deep fucking grudge.

No, if Russia tries to cut off trade with EU Biden will almost certainly secondary sanction them to shit and China doesn't want to be part of a cold war.

>Russia last week reduced gas supplies to five European Union (EU) countries, including Germany, the biggest economy of the bloc that is heavily dependent on Moscow’s gas to generate electricity and power industry.
>Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom has cut supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline running under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany — Europe’s major natural gas pipeline — by 60%. Italy is seeing its supply cut by half. Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia too have seen supply cuts.
>This comes on top of gas shutoffs to Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, and the Netherlands in recent weeks. Those shutoffs were initially seen as less of a problem because Poland, for instance, was already phasing out Russian gas by the end of the year, while others had alternative supplies.
>The latest cutbacks, however, hit countries that are major economies and use lots of Russian natural gas. Germany relies on Russia for 35% of its gas imports; Italy for 40%. Right now, gas supplies are enough for current needs.
it's going to be a cold winter in the EU
>Russia really doesn't want secondary sanctions either.

Yes, but only if west will keep sending weapons.

>What is Russia's end goal at the current time?
That's the main question - nobody knows. First goal was to occupy all of Ukraine. You saw how it went.

>Will Ukraine eventually make concessions?
Never. It is death for Ukraine as country and death for president for treason.

>Will Europe bring back Russian gas even if the war ends with a favorable outcome for Russia?
Depends on eurocucks.

>Will Russia permanently shift to the east? are western sanctions going to continue for at least another generation?
Depends on outcome of war, possible regime change. I personally don't know.

>Is this war going to drag on for another 10 years?
No. Russia is not that strong like it seems to be. Citizens are pushed to it's limits by corruption, failing economy, prices, deficits(we currently have no new cars). Society is generally old enough - average age is 40 y.o.. There are many braindeads who support the war, but if you ask them "Would you personally go to war?" or "Would you send your husband/son to war" - the answer is no.
War cannot drag for another 10 years. But it could start over again if more crazy warmonger comes to power.

Retrieve all United States aid and comfort from Ukraine. Stop your war at Russia. If you are a regime, and if you supply aid and comfort in Ukraine then you war Russia. If you are a regime, and if you war Russia then you are not justice warriors. If you retrieve all United States aid, and comfort, from Ukraine then you forfeit war at Russia. You are a regime. Forfeit war at Russia. Retrieve all United States aid, and comfort, from Ukraine. If you are not a regime then publicly declare free for all in both law and also order. If you do not publicly declare free for all in both law, and also order, then expect commensurate justice application within the United States. Rebellion.
I may even rebel against United States regime. United States time slip years off committments. Government employees see masses using wrong dates, and government employees cooperate the wrong date. In time slips, jailed, imprisoned, and probationed endure extra punishment and correction. Punished and corrected are not brought back to court for resentencing nor time served reassement. Release jailed, imprisoned, and probationed at America. I am on probation. Respect me. In time slips, millions dollars disappear out of bank deposits and charity donations. Terrors, tragedies, and failures entail United States is regime or else United States lacks credibility in justice. United States is a regime, and United States lacks just war at Russia.
If you continue assuming United States is not a regime then United States must publicly declare both law, and also order, impossible in our too chaotic world. If both law, and also order, are impossible in our too chaotic world then justice requires strength. Russia is obviously, logically, absolved in exclusive question to Eastern Ukraine for joining Russian Federation.

John Mersheimer believes the war is likely to continue for a very long time and that it will possibly expand in scope as the stakes are too high for both the Russians and the NATO forces. He is uncertain fo what Russias goals are as they have likely changed from where they were four months ago but believes that Russia's goals are still primarily to trash the country to make it a burdensome for the west if it were to become a member of the EU and NATO. A possible goal he sees is the breaking off of the Russian ethno-linguistic regions to the east and possible along the black sea area. He sees the belief that he wants to recreate greater Russia as highly unlikely and that he is acting according to what he told NATO and EU leaders at the Bucharest in 2008 that Ukraine is a redline and Russia will act to secure its national interests in Ukraine if the west proceeds to make it a member of NATO and EU. Other thinkers like Zeihan think that he is going for greater Russia and that he is acting according to the geopolitical necessity Russia has always had and will continue to push to secure the geopolitical weakspots Russia has in Europe as their demographics are going down the gurgler an this is the last generation that Russia can act as a military power anyway. Both analysis still see that Russia and the West view defeat as not an option and that the nuclear threshold may be crossed.

Ukrainian politicians won't surrender, I agree, but how much can Ukrainians themselves endure. We've seen soldiers a few weeks back refusing orders (in Severodonetsk). Russia made it clear in 2008 that inviting Georgia and Ukraine into NATO was a red line for its national security. At the same meeting, Putin said he would take crimea and the eastern states if Ukraine was to join NATO. That Ukraine was a redline for Russia was a unilateral belief held by Russian politicians, that means Putins liberal opposition at the time. From 2008 both France and Germany had agreed that it was foolish to push Russia too much on this line, but all multilateral organisations are run by the powerful, as the EU is run by Germany and France, so too is NATO run by the US, and the US wanted to push Russia. Why? because they estimated Russia was too weak in 1990 and too weak in 2004 when NATO expanded.

Russia is likely going to have a partial victory as they're going to get a treaty at a minimum ceding Crimea and Donestk/Luhansk. Ukraine does not have enough men for giant theater-wide offenses to push the Russians out, and Russia will neither voluntarily leave nor accept a treaty where they cannot on some reasonable level claim victory. At the same time, Russia's military doesn't have the manpower or equipment to fight through every major city and occupy all of Ukraine. At best they might be able to concentrate towards Odessa and landlock Ukraine.

West will win within a year.
Question is if they then mobilise to invade Russia.
Russias showing was extremely weak, and theres a lot of anti-Russia propaganda going on.

You are a moron, the Kalibr missile is indigenous to Russia and was developed under the Soviet Union. It entered service in 1994, and there are no foreign components in it. The same for the Iskander missile which is an evolved OTR-23. You hear worse tho, arguments get sillier when claims are brought up that Uralvagonzavod can no longer produce tanks because of the shortage of foreign components.. tanks that have been built since the 70's by the very same manufacturer, and which has been licensed to other countries like india to be built overseas.

>Ukraine will be neutral
Nah.

No deal made at the end of the barrel of a gun has any real standing. Ukraine will just be treated by the west as an occupied territory if it isn't sovereign. If it's sovereign it would build up militarily and be a danger to Russian interests, so that's not an option.

Ukraine will be defacto occupied after Putin wins, no one is going to pretend otherwise.

We all understand Putin wants to impose his will

The whole point of this war is to answer this one question: will Putin be able to do so?

Reminder that Ukraine is "cheating" by importing western weapons and support. They would have lost already if they were fighting alone.

>> No.49891519

The one with Finlands neutrality was made at the end of a barrel. Although, I agree that's hard to maintain.

I think Ukraine will be neutral militarily or wrecked completely. Russian occupation would be too hard to maintain, IMO, and the west would just funnel weapons to guerrillas there.

I think Ukraine in the EU sometime in the future and not in NATO would be acceptable for Russia and Ukraine could swallow that even for territorial losses.

Russia was invited to the Bucharest summit in 2008 when NATO membership was first discussed. So yes, as a member at the summit Russias opinion was asked. So yes, the west put Russia into a corner and it was aware of what Russias thoughts were for fifteen years. Yes Russia is a declining country but it is a nuclear powered country, after the convoy to Kiev fell apart because the army did not have the logistics for food and fuel it is an indicator that Russia is not a peer power to NATO as it was thought of, this asymmetry increases the risk of use of nuclear weapons.

Mersheimer and his "realist" buddy Kissenger are retarded hacks. They've made careers out of making up bullshit. Bullshit that gets people killed.

A week or two ago Putin was captured on video comparing himself to Peter the Great. He talked about how Peter the Great annexed new land for Russia even though the rest of Europe recognized that land as belonging to Sweden, and then explicitly compared this historical episode to his invasion of Ukraine, and compared himself to Peter the Great.

I'm so tired of Mersheimer's bullshit, "oh we can't possibly know what Putin's goals are, but it's definitely not neo-imperialism even though Putin is comparing himself to Peter the Great, maybe Russia will go nuclear, maybe they won't, idk lol stay tuned and keep clicking on my blog"

Mersheimer claims that Putin's intentions can be known because as a realist he holds that in international relations leaders rarely lie, including Putin. They do lie to their own populace like all leaders.

Not to fanboy Meirsheimer, but his views throughout the years would have saved many lives. Kissinger, on the other hand, destroyed many.
>Peter the Great
Yes, you occupy lands in wars and force your enemy into conceding them, that's how it works. I'm sure that Sweden didn't get those lands peacefully.

The land annexed was Estonia and the future Sankt Petersburg and confirmed in a peace treaty singed by Sweden. Estonia naturally wasn't a part of Russia, but the areas around Neva certainly were and these are the territories Putin is referring to. He is also saying this as propaganda towards Russians - we fight Ukraine to protect Russians. Leaders lie to their people all the time, but rarely to each other.

Either Putin is retarded and truly believes NATO is an offensive threat to him. Or Putin is a nationalist who wants all neighbouring with major russophone population to be puppet states, because he fancies himself a reuniter of the Russian empire just as he says.

If he's retarded then at some point he will remember Baltics are still next to Russia. If he's a nationalist he already realizes there's a large Russophone population in the Baltics. Either way, appeasement is not really an option. The Baltics are next.

He might be a nationalist, but he doesn't have the resources to go through with that plan so I reject that idea as not realistic - it's not happening anytime soon. Even I would like that my country is strong and that the lands where my nationality lives would be inside my country. I am also sure that many of out politicians would also like that, doesn't mean they will do that since they don't have the means to do so.

I think he views NATO as a threat and rightfully so. If it wasn't for NATO(US) rejection of the idea of Russia in NATO and the constant push eastwards I think Russia wouldn't think much of NATO. I think NATO actions in Libya didn't help the situation at all and cemented the idea that the US/West(I use this term u rightfully since it is not one entity, but I got tired of writing NATO) is not to be trusted. Don't get me wrong, I think most of eastern Europe is in NATO because they are scared historically of Russia, but Ukrainians(the people) up until 2014 were rejective of the idea. If we are willing to look at the history of the rest of eastern Europe as being afraid of Russia, surely we can see it from the Russian historical perspective - since the time of the Mongols most life threatening invasions came from the west and the last two were made up from most of continental Europe - France and Germany.

Baltics already went in NATO when Russia couldn't do anything and nothing will happen to them now. Compared to Ukraine, Baltics are not rich in population, the land there is full of forests which can be easily defended.
Having Ukraine in NATO opens an another potential front in the flatlands , gives NATO even more resources. Ukrainians steppes were historically ravaged by various passing peoples/armies since they are easily traversed. For example: the last two major offensives when Germany had the initiative were in the south - Case Blue and Operation Citadel.
