Morons let me explain how mentally retarded you are. Gold is worthless.
Gold is worthless in society collapses. Nobody uses gold in Weimar. Nobody uses gold in Venezuela. Nobody "held gold" in Weimar and "got rich" after because physical gold is a scam and nobody will buy it.
Nobody uses gold in the Black Death. Nobody used gold when Rome collapsed. All the gold stores are outside the empire because it's useless. The gold standard does not stop wars and the largest war in history was fought in the gold standard. The gold standard died because of the trade deficit, it impairs trade and not the budget deficit.
But that's not the point. The point is the stock market simply must die. Boomers live 70 years. 2% of the stock market must be sold every year for estate taxes.
It's impossible for the stock market to exceed 50x gdp. Because taxes are half, and yearly fluctuation is half, is impossible for the stock market to exceed 3x gdp or whatever people actually spend.
30% of the economy is healthcare. 10% is finance paid by interest on other things. 10% is retail. 10% is admins. 20% is government. That leaves only 30% of the economy as actual household expenditure. It's simply impossible for the stock market to exceed what people actually spend by a large multiple because estate tax and lawyers must take it when boomers die.
Us gdp is 20 trillion. The stock market is 49 trillion and bonds are 46. Real estate is 40 trillion and commercial is 16. All these assets added together are 7x gdp.
It's simply impossible for the market to keep growing when the fed is contracting. You will die at last and gold will be worthless. You'll die of peak oil in 6mo. /pmg/ is a retard board and will ignore.
>but gold 2000 years
That's literally the duration of Jewish influence on the west

if you live in a third world country an ounce of gold could store an incredible amount of value in a very small place. perhaps goldbacks would make you feel better for their small size.
anyway, if you want to hide actual wealth why not fill a small trash can with obvious jizz rags and empty lube bottoms, first securely placing your gold underneath.

>>49831500
if SHTF and there is no chance of the US government coming back anytime soon then try to use gold to buy live changing purchases. cars, houses, land, daughterwives, guns WITH ammo.
if you think the government will bounce back wait until gold has a high price with the new currency and exchange for their cash and try to ride a way to the top.
silver should be used for food, fuel, and ammo. maybe one night with a FWTDHWAHQAD

however yes, you should have 6 months of food, a few reliable guns(youre more than likely going to gain followers), and at least 1000 rounds of ammo for each.

>> No.49831726

Yes. The gold will help after SHTF is over. If the dollar you once held is now worth 0 it may be beneficial to use some of your gold for the new currency in charge or if possible trade for items.

this post hightlights a good point about why gold especially is money which cryptoshitfucks need to understand:
>tax silver... making it harder to flee failing currency
If you can't store your wealth in PMs, where else can you store it?
>Oil
toxic af, explosive, therefore v. expensive to store and transport in large quantities
>Wheat
goes off after about a year, needs a massive barn
>Coal
better than oil but still bulky af
>Copper
Getting better but stil bulky af and will corrode to green dust eventually
>Silver
Better still but will tarnish and is still quite bulky if you store significant wealth
>Gold
Can easily store $millions in a small room, will stay as shiny as the day it came out of the mint unless you put it in aqua regia, easily fungible.
This is why gold is money, not because we "arbitrarily assign value to shiny rock", but because the underlying utility of the metal (whatever that is, but don't try to argue that it has none because you embarrass yourself) combines with these properties of being compact and immutable through time. Other commodities have underlying utility but nothing else (maybe Platinum-group but they are very hard to work into coins/bars) has these physical properties which make it an easy and convenient thing to store wealth in.

>> No.49831798

>>49831500
Depends on the kind of crisis, obviously. Nobody wants metals in a societal breakdown, but in any situation less severe than that they'd probably moon. Cryptos have no intrinsic value and need internet, while shit like ammo and bottle caps can be made pretty easily. As for guns and food, if you intend to barter them how much of each are you gonna buy? Or do you honestly have years of food stocked? How are you gonna carry all that shit to a trading area? PMs are the standard for a reason, they're ideal money, especially in a crisis.

><<>>< WHY SILVER? ><<>><

>Historically Undervalued
Gold and silver exist in the Earth at about a 1:16 ratio, and this is the ratio they traded at for all of history. However, today these metals are extracted at a ratio of 1:8, but their price ratio has been as high as 1:80! This indicates that, historically speaking, silver is extremely undervalued relative to gold.

>Industrial Need
Silver is used in thousands of technological, industrial, and even medical applications. In fact, it is the second most patented material in the world, just after crude oil.

>Supply and Demand
As silver is used industrially, it is transformed into a form that is not economically feasible to recycle. Because of this, we say it is consumed, and that the supply of silver is continually drained. Not only that, but the world's silver mining output has slowed in recent years. Most silver is mined as a byproduct of base metals, and as demand for base metals decreases, the new supply of silver is also reduced. For these reasons, silver is considered an "endangered element," just like helium.

>Market Manipulation
JP Morgan was once forced to pay a $1,000,000,000 fine after being caught rigging the silver market. They continue to do so, but having friends in low places protects them from being truly held to account. As explained above, silver and gold are coupled in a price ratio, though this ratio is somewhat elastic. The goal of market manipulation is to suppress the price of gold as a means to suppress reported figures for inflation, but the gold market is slow and heavy. Silver is much easier to manipulate, and is therefore suppressed directly in order to drag gold down with it. By suppressing reported figures of inflation, the Treasury is enabled to borrow money at lower interest rates, buying more time before the government is forced to default on its debt or resort to hyperinflating the currency.

All this means that silver has greater potential for gains than gold.

Society hasn't fully collapsed yet. You don't see that because the police are there to protect those people, same reason Jewish schools have armed guards while teachers being armed in goy schools is taboo. Once they decide the pay isn't worth protecting them anymore and those people have free reign to loot anywhere they want instead of being herded into the cities to destroy businesses and lower property value so those same people can buy it up for cheap (remember Robocop?), you'll see some of that.

Well done.

I tried to get my crypto bros to use metals as part of their stable bag (or just dump them into a loan and borrow against them if they must) ... a few did but most did not.

Without delving too into crypto on PMG I will note failure of stables [read: USDT] will teach a painful lesson to those who've failed to grasp "counterparty risk" and how metals are one of the few counterparty-risk-free assets around.

Most banks won't accept it less than 3/4 whole but you can ask them to help you and they will assist you in sending the note or coin in for a replacement. Obviously no one is going to waste time doing this for a coin. Or any bill under a $50 probably. My bro in law was a bank manager. The reason misstrikes make it out into the world is because they're usually too small to notice by the QAQC pros at the mint. If a collapse happens, think of how valuable booze will be. 90% of Americans are regularly taking some kind of mood-altering drug, be it booze, weed, ssri's, nicotine, "hard" drugs, etc. If the supply chain for most of that shit collapses people will be desperate for any kind of chemical that prevents them from facing reality sober, especially if living conditions in general become way shittier than they used to be. Humans have always sought mind-altering chemicals, but never in recent history have so many people regularly taken chemicals with highly addictive qualities. Even in the wild west of pharmacology where snake oils were all the rage, a relatively small amount of people were taking that shit and most of them weren't addictive, they were just bullshit.

>Any vendors

Sure, I like eBay because that's where good deals can be found, here's my pasta:

When buying ancient coins on eBay, you must always check the Fake-Sellers lists for the seller's user ID to determine if they are trustworthy:
http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=18502.0
http://augustuscoins.com/ed/fakesellers.html

Some legit sellers occasionally have fakes slip through too so checking fake coin reports for the specific issues can be helpful, but generally not necessary for most common sub-$100 coins:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/

For identifying coins, these online encyclopedic databases are fantastic:
https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/i.html
https://www.asiaminorcoins.com/

Sellers I've bought ancients from with no issues, many are European so you need to select the "Worldwide" refinement under the "Item Location" section on the left side of the page or you won't see anything. Some sellers don't have anything listed right now but you can check their completed listings to see what they deal in:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/ancient_treasures/m.html
https://www.ebay.com/sch/brunswickthaler/m.html
https://www.ebay.com/sch/blueonceagain/m.html

https://www.ebay.com/sch/lellien/m.html
https://www.ebay.com/sch/cichosgladiator11/m.html
https://www.ebay.com/sch/numismatiklanz/m.html
Personal favorites, del550 has great stuff but crappy low-effort listings so good deals can often be scrounged:

It's the best all around round that's true. Especially if you run it in both your long range rifle and your battle rifle like an ar-10 or FN-scar. Always good to be able to stock up on only one kind of ammo.
Still prefer the 300 for long distance though. Even in the highest end composite plate body armor you take a .300 winmag to the plate you're put of the fight. Sledgehammer blows to the sternum are not fun.

Happy to help fren, be sure to post any ancient eBay scores if you find things you like. I've gotten most of my ancients for half or less of the going eBay market rate whereas places like crAPMEX probably charge 2x, so i ignore exorbitantly priced retailer dealers and for the most part just lurk for extra good "sleeper" deals on eBay. Ya don't want to pay a penny more than necessary for stuff like this because it's not highly liquid so if you're caught in a bind and forced to liquidate you want to be able to get at least your principal back out.
