It doesn't pay for college they raised the price.

>> No.49795070

Yes. If I keep hearing lowlifes complaining about making $15 an hour I'm gonna go Falling Down.

not true, but warehouse jobs do. so do many unskilled labor jobs.

I'm half tempted to do it. At least they get air conditioning.

Well they require more skill than most college grad jobs.

all the gas stations that were hiring around me at $16 or better to start got staffed in 2 seconds after putting up signage. honestly if you're in transition or don't have much to pay for it's not all that bad. you just have to press a few register keys and microwave breakfast sandwiches.

In 2018, I started a newspaper editor job that paid $0.25/hr more than the Wendys next door.

Today, I make $40/hr.

and if you actually go outside, you'll realize half the people with blue hair are hillbilly-adjacent retards and college grads still get their dick sucked for having completed 4 years of partying. ask me how I know.

I noticed that 7 years ago when i graduated that they were paying as well and I'm honestly not surprised at all. there isn't a single BS or BA that isn't more valuable to an employer than a high school diploma - and now they outnumber the high school diploma so supply and demand being the way it is says surplus, pay lower price.

I left the editor gig after 4 months, worked a content farm for 2 years. Now I’m a content manager. I do the SEO and analytics work, outline articles, and then have them written by freelancers.

sounds interesting. the summer heat makes me wanna quit my job, but outside of that I actually love it. content manager sounds kinda up my alley though, I was on the other end of that a lot with freelancing and being a good stream of pitches.

Statistically they're starting around $35-50k depending on major and location.
Hell my first job as a BSME with a 3.9 GPA and a EIT license was for $55k salary and required mandatory 80 hour weeks every week.
So my hourly rate equated to roughly $13/hr as a mechanical engineer that was fortunate enough to graduate just as the covid shutdowns happened.
I quit in my first month and went for my masters but in hindsight I realistically should have just flipped burgers.
Fast food in my city starts around $17-20/hr, warehouse work starts at $25-30/hr
The panda express near me has signs for GMs where the only requirement is 3-5 years work experience in food industry and they're offering $80k
Fresh high school grads fit that description and make more than college grads.

In college grad jobs you are getting paid through your regular wages AND through experience that can be leveraged towards getting a better job in the future. Businesses have noticed this and thus are discounting on the wages.
Dead-end jobs, though, by definition, will get you nowhere.
