If you understood the resource problem in relation to digital money (we have had digital money for many years already) you would understand why drinks no longer come in glass bottles, you would inderstand why there is shrinkflation, you would understand why you don't find good service anywhere anymore, you would understand why coke cannot get enough sugarcane to make original coke so they put a chlorine chemical as a sweetener (aspartame) because they cannot get enough sugar from sugar cane farms and why the UK government brings in third world migrants to prop up the value of housing and get more tax slaves. The debt based system jewry is the root of all of these problems.

You *could* sell the silver for cash and deposit it into a bank account and convert it into magic internet money. That would be dumb as hell though. NFTs are even more retarded than magic internet money. At least with magic internet money you could buy drugs and other cool shit for awhile before it turned out it wasn't really anonymous. Here’s what I got today. Either in the post or from the coin shop/pawn shop.

I usually wouldn’t bother with the tiny coins, but they amused me and the guy knocked them down a bit as I laughed about cost over spot for the weight. Charged me 80% of what they were for in the cabinet. Amusingly he also had a silver ring i pawned a month or so ago in his cabinet for £40. I sold it for £14 but it was some godawful segmented armour joint thing from when I was an edgy goth in 1998. I’d keep it now but hey ho.

I collect Canadian coins and have done so since I was young and my grandpa gave me his coin collection from his time in the war. He noticed I liked coins and got me into the hobby. (Requiem et pacem)
They are currently low premium although I don't expect that to last forever as we get to the crack up boom phase. You can get the same amount of silver for a huge discount relative to American junk when you can find it. It's not as popular so it is less often stocked.
A fair number of people are averse to the queen. See >>49775775
The 39 year old queen portrait debuted in the 1965 minting and as such that was the largest minting year. It occurred just before the Debasement and as such was hoarded up. You can find 1965 dollars and mint sets often sold at a ridiculous bulk discount. Each set contains 1.11 troy ounces of silver and you get the penny and nickel included.

Value is subjective and at the margin is dynamic. If I had more than one 1911 and no gold, I would trade one 1911 for an ounce of gold. But having more gold than 1911s, I would not.

Also, it is important to try and predict future values, although our accuracy is not very good. I think I can predict that the chances of gold becoming the new world currency is higher than the chances of 1911s becoming the new world currency. Therefore, I predict the potential upside in gold is greater than the potential upside of 1911s.

Why gold indeed?

There is nothing magical about gold. It is a commodity that people can use for tooth fillings, electrical wiring etc. Period. However, it does have some properties that make it easy to trade and sell! Those being it is uniform, durable, portable and divisible. It is durable, meaning a gallon of milk will go bad soon but you can bury gold for a few centuries and it still has value. It is portable - an $1800 ounce of gold can fit in your pocket. It is uniform - if pure, one ounce of gold is the same as another. And it is divisible - if you have a pound of gold and a forge, you can divide it up.

Any precious metal has these properties. Many commodities have a lot of these properties. There is nothing special about gold and it is often overvalued during unstable financial periods, sometimes for years. Even silver got this way in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Any commodity with some of these properties is a store of value.

My usual pasta, assuming you have money to spare (having at least a month's wages saved in cash for emergencies):
You've decided you want to 'stack' PM. What should you know?
- For generic bars with no design, watch the markups over spot: premiums (added charges) go up for smaller pieces. When selling, your buyer may insist on spot price.
- When a new series of artful or themed bullion (especially coins) comes out, the first of the series are usually missed by later collectors. They will pay high premiums to fill in the series. Ponder the potential for series popularity: generic and/or cringeworthy-themed series have higher failure rates.
- Interesting coins cost least while they're still being minted. Once the mintage stops and dealers run out of stock the prices jump, then rise more slowly but still faster than generic silver. Maples, Eagles, Wieners, Britannias, etc. are all nice but boring. The mint may add a privy to make them more collectible (creating a series) and gin up the price. Buy stuff that changes overall designs from year to year: Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc. These become series.
- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, they will still feel good even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to part with them.
- Some beautiful generics are priced comically high (Germanias, e.g.) - they don't follow the market trends as readily, and usually garner highest resale price only for a few years after the mintage. The drawback: dealers may categorize these as "generic" and price them as generic when buying them from you.
- If free shipping is offered, buy enough to take advantage of that. Although it's shipping (not directly PM), it's an added premium.
- Keep a spreadsheet of your purchases!!! You should track profit/loss over time. It's quite revealing.

What you will get varies based on your location. Check your local tax regs as they pertain to PMs. For example some US states have no PM taxes, while others have a 1000 threshold to get tax free. European nations have VAT to worry for. Some coins or bars might not be taxed whike others are; Canada taxes Golden Eagles but not Silver Eagles because the gold is 90% and the silver is three nines fine.

People think JP Morgan is over-shorting the price of silver (true) and that if the physical supply is bought up by anons they'll be forced to liquidate, this causing a massive silver squeeze and possible a reset to a more historical price

>it would take a serious black swan on the rest of JPM's holdings to break that short, plus the govt would most likely back them

In a recent interview Bill Holter explained it quite well, and it goes for all players not just JPM. The current structure of all markets is an artifact of cheap credit, easy money/debt which has been used to inflate and go long on normie assets and also take out outsized short positions on precious metals. When the credit market implodes and assets crater in valuation, those holding normie garbage will have to liquidate and cover their PM shorts, which may well initiate a squeeze for the history books. Put another way; cheap credit has been used to inflate everything besides PMs which instead have been suppressed via shorts funded by that same credit. When credit disappears the return swing of that pendulum will rip peoples' faces off.

When the music stops and everyone playing fiat/crypto musical chairs needs to find a seat, you can actually sit on your silver.
My exit price is measured in acres.

The precious metals market is manipulated as part of a coordinated effort to keep the perception of inflation down. you can see this process in the chart here: >>49782657
The short version of the investment pitch is like this: gold and silver exist in the Earth's crust at a 16:1 ratio, and this is the ratio it traded at for all of history. Today, the price ratio is over 80:1. Silver's price is manipulated by the COMEX, which sells paper contracts for silver that doesn't exist as a way of flooding the market with an illusory supply. The ratio of paper silver to physical is estimated to be between 350:1 to 500:1. Silver is the second most patented material on Earth, just after crude oil, and is used in thousands of industrial, technological, and medical applications. Eventually, the industrial and investment demand for silver will drain the COMEX of its physical reserves and the manipulation game will end in a crack-up-boom unlike anything ever witnessed in history.
I recommend reading The Big Silver Short for a deep dive.
The base case for the silver price (IN TODAY'S DOLLARS, remember that) is over $100 when the GSR corrects.
If the GSR corrects to the extraction ratio, which is around 7:1, silver will be in the hundreds of dollars. (In today's dollars!!!)
If the short squeeze happens, and all those paper contracts need to be settled, silver will be in the thousands.

You don't buy silver with the idea to wait and sell for a profit, you buy to preserve wealth because the banking/financial system is a sophisticated form of slavery.
