>just put your money in the S&P500, it ALWAYS goes up over long periods of time!
What's stopping it from pulling a Nikkei? It was also 'always going up' until it wasn't.

>> No.49762455

Nothing really, and long periods mean like 30+ years. this is why you have a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds, crypto, commodities, pms, domestic/international small/medium/large size businesses. It's a pain in the ass to kinda construct that portfolio and rebalance but you won't get cucked as hard when something goes wrong.

You need to recognize the difference between asset bubbles and normal market volatility. The US market in 1929, NIKKEI in 1989 and Bitcoin in 2021 were bubbles. Outside of these the risk is simply timing.

The S&P 500 corrects approx every 10 years. When it does, it takes years for it to bottom. There's no reason to put any money in the S&P for the next 1-2 years. It's as predictable as clockwork.

I got this theory that the stock market is going to deteriorate as we know it over the next few decades. GME was the first visible crack. People will slowly completely lose faith that regulators and the market will act in their interest. Money will slowly move to defi kickstarter-eque platforms that allow more free investment. Boomers will also absolutely rugpull the stock market as they all siphon off their retirement portfolios to pay their living costs.

my dad lived in kyoto and tokyo from 1981 to 1986 as a young professional.
He was earning great money, when he returned to north america he had almost nothing left.
It was a bubble like no other.

Japanese born after 1980 are worse off because their salaries are going down in real terms rather than just "100k today was only 25k in 1980" terms and have nothing to even pretend to live for.

Japanese will eventually migrate to virtual reality and spend all their time having isekai adventures once the technology is available. Many Japanese are unhappy with the realities of modern Japan and desire escapism. That's why there are so many anime about virtual reality and isekai these past few years.

I mean, we'd have to do something crazy like focus all of our efforts on a crazy ideology instead of running good businesses. that'd never happen, right?

dumb card.
always check your account to figure out when to accumulate more.
always keep your thumb on the pulse of fear in the population to figure out when to accumulate more.
Wait long enough, then sell whenever the fuck you feel like it.

Why do jannies not range ban the creators of these threads?
Why do they allow porn all over a blue board?
Why do they allow blatant advertising raids?

If you put your money in S&P500 in 1965, it would have taken almost 30 years to get even.
Of course it was different time, oil crisis and crazy inflation ... oh shit

why bother with any of that?
the only reason people are here at all is to chase the 0.000000001% chance to make millions from investing a few thousand

even if your end goal is to make 10x over the next 30 years... well thats completely worthless
to actually make it you need to get the millions when you are still young, or might as well just deposit paycheck in a savings account and call it a day

This is totally true.
I mean, sure, I'll allocate 500 USD a month to this scheme for retirement, but I'll sure as fuck chase a 100X return over 1 year using some retarded shitcoin to get rich by 30.
