That is, UNTIL one of them has real success and becomes a new organization like NASA or Tesla. Think about how much dick they would suck just to go to a summer party at Google offices, or to hang out with the CEO.

The factor explaining all of this is STATUS COMPETITION. When you are fighting for status, you always talk down against people below you. Even people you believe you can plausibly portray as below you, you talk shit. Group who have more status, you suck their dick. Everything they do is amazing and necessary.
The ONLY exception is when a large and successful group has a mishap, then the journalists smell blood in the water and have a chance to gain status, by attacking the injured beast. Compare the sentiment of facebook in 2014 and after.
